To Tunnel Look Out.
It • said that the Southern Railway
will commence work about the l»t of
January, building the proposed exten
sion of the recently nrqu'.red Memphis

Ala., into Chattanooga,
The distance between the points
named is about thirty-five or forty
miles. It is understood that Ikiokodt
Mountain will be tunneled. This work
will take many months. The tunnel
will be commenced ou the Chattanoo
ga side. When this extension is com
pleted, the Memphis and Charleston di

have an independent entrance into
Chattanooga. The entrance of the M.
and C. to Chattanooga has been for
years over the tracks of the Nashville,
Chattanooga and St. Louis from Stev

Finally Dre. Cutler .mu! Violet took

that the girl hail dost control of her

I)r. Cutler held that the case began
through a form of aggravated sulki

contrary, maintains that the trance
originated in hysteria, and he eaya that
by imposing hie will on that of the pa

of her strange condition.
About five years ago. the girl was in
a similar condition, but it did not last

>mall and Early.
On Chriatmas l dined at an hour
Which well might b# elaseed as un
seemly.
But though you shut me lij a tow r
111 still say 1 llhed It extremely.
The natiery. whilst hardly new.
In places was strikingly snowy!
The china. In Delftest of blue.
Attractive without being showy.
Indeed. I was pi. vsed with my lot.
Add though std- said “lieetes - " and
■ mostes.”
And ‘lsn't r?" for "Am 1 not?"
I had an unpitragoned hostess
1
The table, it * true, was quite small—
| So tiny. In fart, that 1 ft«r it
Would never have answered at all
I Had T not floored nryself to tie near
It.
;The service was rather unique.
But marked by dispatch (if not neat
ness!)
The tea was transparent and weak.
And ev'ry course cloyed with Itß
sweetness.
My bones and my back ached again:
Yet. a* I'm a penitenqt sinner,
I truly regretted it when
The breakfast twit ended our dinner.^
I sat at the end of the day
Beside a braird rich of complexion:
Its master a man who can play
The part of the host to perfection.
A man whom I envied lang syne
His wealth and hts high social stand
ing:
But, somehow, a feeling more tine
Thau envy my breast’s now comman
ding:
For Heaven's denied him one gem
That I proudly w ear—the wee daugh
ter
