SAILORS IN “PROFESSOR NAPOLEON”
Tlit> accompanying picture represents it characteristic group of the jolly sailor lads in the big musical
extravaganza. "Professor Napoleon." which will be produced at the Grand opera house Friday and Saturday,
•liinuart lit 211. All told there will tie 720 people in the production. The sailor chorus consists of forty
prominent young men of Atißuata, all dressed in costumes of spotless white with blue collars and cuffs, being
exactly the same as those worn in the trainliiß school at Annapolis. The sailors are captained by Mr.
Pendleton.
The sailor sin- the great HeaveO sonr and dance the intricate sailors' hornpipe i n a manner that would
be ltigltl' creditable to a genuine During one of the sailors' dances a light effect Is thrown on the stage,
which makes the sailors appear at one moment to be .dancing far In the distance; at the next close to the
eye This effect is indeed novel. The sailor hoys also participate in the ringing entrance song of Professor
Napoleon himself, when nearly four hundred people are on the stage at one time.
MUNICIPAL COURT.
The session of the recorder's court
this morning was short but sweet. The 1
tines were dealt out with a practiced
hand and it was a bad din for the
sinners The amount of the tines ag
gtugate a good sum and at the rate
things were going this morning the
city will soon have its new build
iug When the lieutenant dealt the
11 rvt hand the recorder found that he
had five queens \fter some little
discussion, for Judge Plcquet did not
I like to give up such a hand, one
of the queens was discarded and the
recorder had a hand that netted him
S6O or 120 da>s It was a fine piece
of playing for the bluffs that were
tried were varied Mary Alexander,
the queen of clubs, slapped the little
child of Major John Twiggs, Jr . and
was run in for it. Mary was the nurse
and got a little too free with her
chastisement of the little child Lizzie
Munir, the queen of diamonds, trieth
to put in a fancy sample of her pitch
iug to the detriment of the object of
her wrath. She proved her right to
the title for she put them over the
plate every shot. Khte Barnes was
the beauty of the bunch and out of
courtesy was dubbed the queen of
hearts. She pulled off a few naughty
words that did not please the tieigjy
, her> and was pulled by the police.'

Mary Jackson was the queen of

vince even the most skeptical. Egypt's
traditional night was not a caution
to this buxom wench.
William Parson anted a plain drunk

Mack Boss had a fuss with his wife
and went back to the house. He
was not admitted mid he pushed up
the window and showered the Inside
with hrioks. He put up the usual
plea that another man had done it.
but it was no go. He got SIOO or 'JO
days.
Wyatt Doyle is a negro man about
thirty who was chargtd by a little
yellow girl with being a little too
affectionate The little girl's brother,

handle. aiso testified agains; the man.
He claimed that It was a put up job
because the kills did not like his stay

knew nothing of the matter and as
the kids' story was apparently
straight. Wyatt was given SIOO or
