JOHN BUI DIED
FROM OVERDOSE
OF SOMEPOISOR
Took Large Dose of Bromo
Seltser, But Hospital Au
thorities Believe Death
Produced By Something
Like Opium.
At the city hospital this morning
about :t o'clock John Dunn, aged
about 50 years, died from an over
dose of a poisonous drug, lie was n
resident of Pear] avenue, In West
End, and for about 15 years had been
a sufferer from bronchitis,, according
to a report from his physician. He
staled yesterday that he was going
Into the woods and get some plants
r ailed wild arsenic and make up aotn.i
medicine, hut It is not known whether
he did this or not.
Last night he went to a drug store
near his home and purchased a small
bottle of bromo seltzer and accord
ing In a statement from Dr. F. H.
Sayles, interne at the city hospital,
who attended him, Dunn took about
two-thirds of a bottle. Dr. Saylos
at Hod that this was more than enough
to ordinarily rause death, hut despite
this fart the indications in the case
pointed more to opium poisoning
than to bromo seltzer.
There was nothing to lead to a sus
picion of suicide and it Is not thought
that, the man had any intention of
taking his life. As soon as his lit
ness started, which was about S
o'clock, the hospital authorities were
summoned hastily and th<- sick man
was taken to the institution, where
everything possible was done for him.
However, he rlb-d at an early hour
ihls morning.
The dead man Is survived by a wife
nnd several brothers and sisters, but
has no children.
The case is one that i« of much
Importance to the hospital authori
ties and they will taki- up an Investi
gation and try to discover exactly the
rause of death. Dr. Sayles stated
that It wan kuown that Dunn took at
