IS. EVELYN THAW
IS i MAINE
WOODS
NEW YORK.—Mrs. Evelyn Nesbit
Thaw, Instead of being in a sani
tarium In New York, as was gen
erally supposed, is up in the Maine
woods taking a long needed rest with
some friends, according to a state
ment made today by her counsel,
Daniel O'Reilly.
"Mrs. Evelyn Thaw,” said Mr.
O’Reilly, “left New York for a short
trip three weeks ago. It was her in
tention to travel about the country a
bit and then go to Maine. The last
I heard from her she was up in the
woods of Maine. I don’t know when
sne will be back in New York, but
1 know it will not be before the be
ginning of the fall.
“The story that she is in a sani
tarium is ridiculous. Nor is there
any truth in the statement that her
income has been cut off by her hus
band. Their relations are harmonious
and he has continued to provide for
her. The bankruptcy proceedings
made no difference in the arrange
ments between them.
“I have heard the rumor that Thaw
intends to bring suit against Evelyn
for divorce. I do not know that
there is any truth in it. If he does
bring such a suit it will be vigor
ously defended by her. If at any
time he should be released, Evelyn
will of course renew her suit for
annulment. Just now she contem
plates no suit of any sort.”
