Excitement. • ’
PARIS,—A man named Fublircani
has b->en arrested In Foulon for set-,
:ing fire to a powder magazine in tlie
arsenal. His character is a partic

a large number of medals and wards

It is believed that the fact of re
ceiving so many medals has turnod
bis head and caused him to becorr-e
an incendiary.
For six months Publiccani has
saved no lives, and opportunities for
to doing seemed very far off, Public
cani longed lo add another medal to
ills collection and on Saturday, be
ing unable to contain himself any
longer, he set fire to the powder
magazine. He displayed tho utmost
bravery in helping to extinguish Ihe
flames, rrom which he rescued a
sentry and another man, a fact which
afforded him no little satisfaction.
The fire might have been terribly dis
astrous, however, for the magazine
was one of the largest in Toulon.
