It Is a curious but satisfactory fact
lhat -hronic Bright’s Disease, which,
according to medical authorities, is
an Incurable and fatal disease, is now
actually being cured. We have not
attached importance to the state
ments of recoveries we have seen in
the papers from he srates, but that
they are not all rumors is now evl
i dent from several recoveries here.
A. H. Otis of the Honolulu Drug
Co. tells us of two Interesting cases.
One was swollen with dropsy due to
advanced Bright's Disease, and both
the patient and his physician had
given up hope. Otis kept urging a
trial of the new specific until the
patient finally consented. Pecnve-y
was complete, the patient leaving a
few months later for California, wfiere
he now resides.
Another case was that of an olfle
on one ot the Island steamers* He
was In a hospital and considered hope
less when put on the treatment. He
has now been back at his post for
some timp.
The specific that was employed is
called Fulton's Compound for Bright's
-Disease. It seems to be a genuine
discovery. Otis says there are very
few failures, hnt that it requires pati
ence.—Honolulu Bulletin. •
We are agents for this Compound,
Alexander Drug Co., 70S Broad street.
When to suspect Bright's D,“ease—
weakness or loss of weight, dropsy;
puffy ankles, hands or eyei.ds; Kid
ney trouble after the third month;
urine may show sediment; falling
yision; drowsiness. It you have any
of these send for tn * booklet.
FRED BRADLEY LICKED
JIM BARRY IN SIX ROUNDS
NEW YORK—Fred Bradley, of Bos
ton, earned the decision over Jimmy
Barry, of Chicago, last night at the
Princess club, after six rounds of
fierce fighting. The outcome of the
bout was a big surprise to the mem
bers. It was expected that Bradley
had little chance with the “Iron
Man'' from Chicago, who has made
quite a reputation for himself through
out the country, notwithstanding his
defeat at the hands of Sam Lang
ford.

FISH TRUST NOW
IN MEAT TRUST
A. Booth And Company,
Which Is The Fish Trust
Absorbed By The Meat
Trust.
CHICAGO.— A, Booth & Co., which
is the fii.h trust, has been absorbed
bv the meat trust. There have been
reports for some time that such a
deal was contemplated and the well
known signs of a coup which Booth
& Co., have exhibited on the Chicago
Stock Exchange recently to *he great
Indignation of conservative brokers
are taken to mean that the big bar
j gain is c'inched and that the big fel
; lows are proceeding to shake out the
iittle ones.
The fish trusts common and pre
-1 terred stock were allowed to sell ex
! dividend August 20. September 1
was the day appointed when the di
vidend should be payable hut on Au
gust ;il the directors met and decided
to pass it
Whenever a stock is allowed to sell
ex-dlvidend there is at least an im
plied assurance that the dividend will
really be paid but In the case of
Booth & Co., this implied assurance
is said to have amounted to a posi
tive assurance from men within the
maragement of the fijdi trust.
For weeks there has been in Chi
cago an agent of a foreign bank which
is known to have charge of the finan
cial affairs of the Chicago packing
houses, or several of them, in the
country where it does business.
CHARLES ROBERTS
GETM BETTER
ALANTIC CITY, N. J.—Charles B.
Roberts, the Baltimore club man and
financier who was shot while riding
in a rolling chair with Mrs. W. S. G.
Williams, also of Baltimore, is strong
er today and there is a good chance
that he will recover.
While it Is still said that Roberts
named the man who shot him when
he believed he was dying yesterday
the police have made no arrest. It is
said they agreed with Roberts, that
no arrest would be made if he re
covered.
Roberts' statement is said to have
been made to Father Quinn, of St.

“Did Mr. Roberts tell you the name
of his assailant?” he w-as asked.
“I can say nothing,” the priest re
