CHASE WILL PLAY WITH
STOCKTON COAST TEAM
SAN JOSE. Cal.—Hal Chase arriv
ed in San Jose from New York yes
terday morning. He went to his fa
ther's home where he remained until
the afternoon. Chase played with the
cals at Luna Park in the afternoon
•i-'a game with the Chicago Ladies'
am.
A reporter talked with Chase, and
he declared he is going to Stockton.
"Stockton paid the fares for myself
and wife from New York, and 1 feel
under obligations to that team. Be
sides that, they offered rue more mon
ey than San Jose seems willing to
give. I shall leave at once for Sacra
mento to play with Stockton in the
Admission Da;- series.”
A few fans tried in vain to start
a demonstration when Chase appear
ed, on the field. There was a general
impression that he was going to
Stockton and that lit- was not en
titled to an ovation in San Jose. The
local management is very non-commit
tal, beyond admitting that Chase is
determined to .loin Stockton.
It is not considered likely that any
further effort will he made to hold
him here.
