Capt. W. B. Young, chairman of the
general relief committee, received two
letters from personal friends this
morning concerning the flood situa
tion. both of them being highly appre
ciated. The first was from a coffee
importing firm In New York and the
other from the vice president of the
Hartford Life Insurance company,
and they read as follows:

petitioned the Southern Passenger
association to grant stopover privi
leges on tickets sold merchants pass
ing through the city. It Is proposed
that thn railroads entering Atlanta al
low from thru,, to live-day stopover
prlvleges on all tickets through this
city, In order that passengers holding
Kinli tickets may hav„ an ampin op
portunity to Inspect the city and what
It has to offer In the way of business
