Oertel Among Tiiose Who Witness the Wonderful Flight at Fort Myers Says Air is Con quered at Last. Dr. T. E. Oertel was probably the only Augustan to witness the famous flight of Orville Wright in his great airship at Fort Myer, Va., during the past week. Dr. Oertel has always been interest ed in achievements in the scientific world and he states that in .its opin ion the air is conquered and it will now be only a matter of time before the airship is put into use. He was at the World s fair In Chicago in 1903, when the early automobile models were on exhibition there and he de clared to a friend that they were .he greatest things at the fair. The enor mous business and development in thiß line has sustained his claims for them. He says that the air ship of today reminds him very much of the auto mobile at that time when some people were equally incredulous concerning the automnhile, but they have come Into general use throughout the civil ized world and are no longer a curios ity anywhere. Dr. Oertel thinks it will be a long lime before a machine will be per fected which will be controllable in bad weather, but he feels sure that it will come sooner or later.
