GEORGIA, Columbia county.
WHEREAS a certain matter of con
troversy between myself and Doc
tor Collier, of the county and state afore
said, respecting certain expressions used
by myself concerning a lost pocket book,
which I charged the said Collier with .
purloining, was on the twelfth day of
September one thousand eight hundred
and sixteen, by us mutually submitted to
tne arbitrement and award of Samuel
Blackwell, T. P. Keith, John Beall, and
William M‘Gar, who did proceed to the
investigation of said matter, and made
their award in conformity to said sub
mission.
Now, in compliance with the sense,
and award of the said arbitrators, so made
as aforesaid,’ I do say that whatever 1
said respecting Doctor Collier, and the
pocket book, was whfen I was in a state
of intoxication, and without foundation,
and that I believe Doctor Collier to be
an honest man and a good citizen.

sons to believe stole my fellow Jack on
Die sth January last; he is about 24 years
of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, very red
complected, has a natural mark on his
right arm in the bend the size of fe dollar,
with a black hair growing on it; hazle
eyes, light hair, by profession a singing
master —had a bottle-green surtotit coat,
a bine and brown dress coat; he said he
was bom near Salisbury, Nbrth-Caroli
na, emigrated io the Missouri, and from
thence jpaaie here. Jack is about forty
years of age, likely and brisk, 6 feet or
nearly, highs branded on his right cheek
with tile letters I. D. wears whiskers; the
iid.s of his thumb's and two lingers arc
off; on his right hand some grev hairs,
end-black complected—it is probable he
will pass for a servant to said-Moore, or
obtain a free puss. Fifty dollars and
all reasonable expenses will be paid for
the delivery of Jack to me in Columbia
county, Georgia; and one hundred and
fifty dollars for the said Samuel .Moore,
or his conviction.*

ing on the Savannah river, nine
miles above Augusta—
THREE NEGllti FELLOWS, viz
Monday, a man about 5 feet 9 inches,
dark complexion, stout built, with thick
bps, and shews his teeth very much when
talking. George, a boy 18 or 19 years of
age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, slender
made, and has remarkable thick lips, the
under one hanging very much. Sandy,
a boy 15 or 16 years of ag", well built,
dark complected and grum look. They
were all dressed in blue plains when they
aosconded, and have probably made for
Savannah, as two of them (Monday and
Sanday) were raised near .that place.
The above reward will be given for ap
prehending them, or tendollars for either
of them, and lodging them in any jail so
that I get them, and all reasonable ex
penses paid.

creek, Lawrance district, on the 27th
day of September last, a yellow Negro
Man about 5 feet 8 or 10 inches, 25 years
old, strong and well built; has a scar on
his forehead middling high up, which
may be concealed by his hat; he has a
n other scar on one of his legs occasioned
by a bum when he was small. His name
is NED, but it is probable that he will
deny his name and his master, and the
p!ac> of his former residence. Whoever
shall apprehend the said slave, and bring
him to me, or lodge him in some sale
jail so that I can get him again, shall re
ceive the above reward.

on the 25th December, 1816, re
siding in Columbia county, < a negro fel
low named JIM, about 35 or 36 years of
age, dark complexion, about 5 feet 8 or
10 inches high, rather stoop shouldered,
and somewhat knockneed, with large
Hat feet, and when walking his toes
pretty much turned out; he has a vacancy
in his upper foreteeth, and when laugh
ing may perceived small particle of flesh
between them. I have reason to sup
pose that he is occasionally harbored in
Augusta and near Washington, as he has
connections living in both places. The
above reward and all reasonable expen
ses will be paid to any person who may
apprehend said fellow and deliver him
to me, or secure him in any safe jail so
that 1 get him again.
