riage driver, a fall yellow, vitty artful and
likely fellow, of 22 years old, of a coarse
voice, had on when he went off, a glazed
leather hat, daikdiom'espun pantaloons and
a round jacket, either of blue cloth or
striped homspvtjt. John being unwilling
to be left at a summer residence in Fair
held District, South Carolina; took on the
eleventh instant one of his masters carri
age horses, took also a spare bridle found
his shoulders and made his escape to go,
as he said, to the plantation on Black
Swamp, Bt Peter’s Parish, S. Carolina- —
Tie rode bare backed, was traced unto
Granby feu y below Columbia. He there
rode the same large bay horsq on which
lie made his escape, the horse beth trots
ami paces, a star in hi. forehead, his hind
feel nr pastern joints appear as if they
wer swelled, and it is believed he has
one or both hind feet white. Five doilars
•reward will be given for the horse. It Is
presumed John will endeavour to make
ids way to Augusta, where he has an un
cle a free yellow man, perhaps by the
name of Km. from whonl he may obtain a
■ five pass, may alter his name and dress,
.aid try to make his escace to Virginia, or
he may be'employed on the river us v
boat Ivand. Any person who apprehends
said John aaid secures him so well in some
safe jail, as that the subscriber gets him
shall receive the above reward.
