likely fellow, of 22 year# old, of a coarse
voice, had on when he went off, a glazed
leather hat, daik homespun paulaloor sand
a round jacket, either, of blue cloth or
striped homspun. John being unwilling
to be left at a summer residence in Fair
held District, South Carolina; took on the
eleventh instant one of hit masters carri
age horses, took also a spare bridle round
lus shoulder* and made hi# escape to go,
as he said, to the plantation on Black
Swamp, St Peter's thuisli, S.> Carolina.—
He rode bare backed, vvn# traced unto
Granby ferry below Columbia, lie there
rode the same large bay .horse on which
he made his escape, the horse b«th trots
and paces, a star in Ids forehead, his hind
feet or pastern joints appear as if they
were swelled, and it is believed, he hat
one or both hind feet width. Five dollars
rewaid will bo given lor die horse. It is
presumed John will endeavour to make
his way to Augusta, where he has an un
cle a free yellow man, perhaps by the
name of Kilt, from whom he may obtain a
free pass, may alter his name and dress,
and try to make his escaue to Virginia, or
he may he employed on the river as r
boal hand. Any person who apprehends
said John and secures liim so well in some
safe jail, as that the subscriber gets him
shall receive the above reward.
