Asfar as the counterfeits have been ex

Letter C. The paper is pretty good, and
the engraving in general a well executed
inrifaiion of the original, but somewhat
darkirand stronger in appearance, especi

the mmes of the engravers at the bottom
of th: note.
Tie counterfeits, though not all of the
same length, are generally a sixteenth of
an inch shorter than the genuine: the
horizontal line on the top of the letter K
in the wold HANK, which in the genuine
note almost connects Che upright with the
sloping pari, is deficient in the counter

right of the counterfeit Bill, encircling
the figures 100 has hut one of the tendrils
or hair flourishes —‘.Ire lower or horizon

In the counterfeits, the figures on the
right and left, denoting the numbers of
the bill, are written by the same hand,
whereas, in all the genuine, they are in
variably and perceptibly written by two
persons.
The Letters in the forged signature ol
the President art more roundly formed
at the turns, and those of the Cashier’s
much.flatter that in the genuine, and a
carefulness and formality in both, observ
able in the Cointqrfcit*.
All the bad lills seen or heard of, are
tilled up with the name of Jas. Clay,
and have theie distinctions—The let
