From the Philadelphia Gazette.
The following laughable scene, a 1
which I was present, took place a few
days ago. It may perhaps amuse youv
readers.
A large Green Turtle was to be killed,
atone of our principal Hotels Its un
common size, and the maimer of des
patching it attracted the attention of se
veral of the boarders. At the moment
the black executioner, was about to com
mence the operation, and drawing the
keen carving knile across the throat ot
the suspended animal—l.o! at the mo
ment the fatal weapon vas entering, the
turtle, in a most pitiful tone, cmd out
“ Mungo, Mungo, why dost thou kill me 1
let me live ahd happy will be thy days.”
The amazement of all around & most of all
the affrighted Cor k, cannot be described,
but such was the effect that the knife was
unconsciously dropped, and Mungo ran off
crying, it w:fs « the Devil, and not a Tur
tle.*'—The scene was ludicrous in the
extreme,and required ail the persuasion
of those present to convince the affright
ed Cook, it was only a humorous trick of

Family Pills of Health
A REMEDY superior to any yet dis
covered, for Dyspepsia, Headache, Heart
burn, Sour Stomach, Lowness of Spirits,
Flatulence, i.oss of Appetite, Gout, ami
Gravel, together with all affections of the
liver, and the whole train of nervous and
bilious disorders These pills require no
confinement or restraint in diet, as they do
not contain one atom of mercury, in any
shape. A decided preference is given to
them by families of the first distinction,
so mild is their action, yet so effectual,
that every obstruction ip the Stomach is
removed with incredible quickmss, al
though they act as a complete renovating
medicine, and strengthen at the same
tine. Nothing can prove the superiority
0 these pills, more than the number of
c iscs communicated by persons of the first
1 spectability, which may he fiad on ap

Dr. J. Warner, Loudon,
Sir—l have ip inform you of the follow
ing case, cured b) your pills ot health. -
Mr. Lewis Scott, of Brecon, iu the count
of Brecon, was for a long time laboring
under an extreme lowness of spirits, so
nuch so, that be was obliged to neglect
iart of his business. He wen rto Swansea;
drinking bathing would be of service ii.
him; but to Ids great concern, he found no
relief. He afterwards came to Chepstow,
ids native place, where his mother and
friends now live; lie complained to me how
II he was, and appeared much dejected,
saying he thought he never should be well
-my more. I advised him (o take your
Ptila of Health; he bought of me a Jew
boxes, and his brother assured me .a few
days ago, 5 that lie is now as well as he
ever knew him; In ing fully satisfied it was
your Pills only, that restored him to his
usual health and spirits.
I am, dear sir, yours,
J. PHILLIPS.
It is impossible to insert here all the
cases of cures which Dr. Warner is in pos
session of; ho contents himself with what
has been detailed, but grt-at experience
has convinced him, that in all morbid af
fections of the blood and lymph, (the
cause of almost every malad,) so nobh
sate and efficacious a remedy, was never
offered to mankind; but he wow leaves it
to the world conscious that he has done his
duty.
