cently analyzed by a competent Chemist,
and pronounced to be equal if not superior

business, he flatters himself of being able
to give full satisfaction to those who may

and Carriages, by the day, or longer.—

Harness, at the shortest notice and best
manner- He will only add, that he invites
the public to call and see his complete es

One of these Engines was tried in the
town with another Engine belonging to
the town;—the Patent Engine, with 2 five
inch chambers, threw 70 gallons of water
133 feet in 28 seconds; the one belonging
to the town, and selected for the purpose
with 2 six-inch chambers, was 43 second,
throwing the same quantity of water 110
feet-

Whereas, by an act of Congress passed
on the 17th of March 1820, entitled “ An
act to authorise the President of the U.
States to appoint a Receiver of the Public
Monies and Register of the Land Office
for the district of Lawrence county in the
Arkansas territory,” it is enacted, that
any person, having a claim to a right of
preemption within the said district, shall
make known his claim and location, ac
cording to the provision of the laws now
in force, to the Register, at least six weeks
before the time to be designated by the
President of the United States for issuing
patents to the soldiers of the late army,
entitled to bounty land in said district;
Therefore, I James Monroe, President
of the United States,do hereby designate
•he fourth Monday of November next, as
ihe time at which patents as aforesaid
shall commence to issue
