The Queen had not given nse to any

The news from the .ontinent is of an
interesting nature. It sill be seen that
two of the parlies to the** Holy Alliance,
Russia and Austria, have be«ome serious

so well disposed, as has been asserted, to
tolerate the constitutional system of go

A Vienna, July 19.
The news of the revolution in Naples
has produced a great sensation in Vienna.
What is singular, the event was spoken of
in that capital before it look place, by
persons, who, oh being interrogated, re
plied that they had been previously-infor
med of it by letters front Paris Rein

THE FUNDS.
Business in this city having been dull
lately, the funds have excited a general
interest, and the fluctuation in the market
tin ring the last few Jays, has caused a
great sensation in the public mind, and
much speculation as to th* cause of it
The panic which has existed for the last
three or four days seems to have subsided;
and although many persons maintain the
opinion that there will still be a further
depression in the funds, yet although the
money market wears a favorable aspect,
and a large quantity of stock has been
bought to-day by some of the most emi
nent brokers in the House.—The Stocks
are still on so precarious a footing, that a--
ny news of an unpleasant nature would
depress them ; but if this does not hup- ,
pen th. great quantity of stock which
must be bought back, will cause a rise.
There has been much business done to
day, and the prices may be quoted rather
higher than at the close of business >es- ,

adoption pf this rallying sign, which is
that of the Carbonari, with the protesta

firmness with which gen. Filangeri has
hitherto answered the popular groups who
desire that the king should shew himself

of the advanced age of his majesty, and
that his infirmities would not admit of his
compliance, the clamours ceased, and the
eyes of some amongst them betrayed the
feelings of their hearts. •

(Extract of a private letter.)
“The affair of Ali Pacha have become
worse and worse, several of his generals
have abandoned him, and some of them
taken up arms against him. Wherever
the troops of the Grand Seignor appear
the ge.neral proclaims by sound of the
trumpet, that he does not come to make
war upon the Albiaians, but only against
the tyrant Ali. In consequence of these
pacific proclamations, ail the inhabitants
lay down their arms, and the population
revolt against the rebel Pacha. He has
already lost the districts of Tricald Mos
salungi, and several others. Every thing
indicates that his troops will disperse on
tlie approach of those of the Porie.
In conseqnsnee of the presence of the
Ottoman fleet in the Adriatic Gulph, not
a single Albanian vesssel has ventured
with goods to the fair of Sinigaglia.”
By a mail which arrived this morning
we have received Dutch papers to the

lowing extracts:—

From this Capital, I have but one re

in virtue of which, M Hover Coliard was

July 27/,l—-The French Journals speak
very carelessly of individuals —The Cou
rier Francais, for instance, has put forth
some very inaccurate observations I'elslivc
to the Neitpolilian General Filangieri—
He is a map about 30 years of age, of el
evated stature, and agreeable figure—
When M. Abrlalf, Peer of France, and
Minister of Justice, under the Consular
Government was sent by the Directory
to Naples, in the quality of Commissioner
of the French Government, he sent to Pa
ris, several, several Neapolitan youths,
amoitg were the two brothers, Charles
and Hubert Filangieri, to receive a French
education. They were placid at the
Prytaneum, the only public college which
had not been entirely abandoned during
the Revolution, and which is now lh
college of Louis the. Great. Charles Fi
langieri, godson of Queen Caroline of Na
ples, was appointed Lieutenant in the
service of France, and was Brigade Major
when Joseph ascended the throne of Na
ples. Filangieri at that period entered
into the service of that power, and be
came colonel of the royal light horse
guard, and equerry to the king: he fol
, lowed Joseph to Burgos. The place of
Chief Equerry, which was promised-to
Him, having been given to gen. Frances
kl, another Equerry, a duel took place
between them, and the latter was killed.
Napoleon, who wuis at Burgos at that pe
riod, was very dissatisfied at, this occur
rence, and said tp Filangieri,.“-you have
a head like Vesuvius, return thither.”—
Filangieri set oft' instantly for Italy, an i
made a short stay at Turin, in order, t«
assure himself how he should be received
by Murat. Murat gave him a most cor
dial welcome, and by degrees raised him
to the rank of Lieutenant-General.

CHRONICLE.
AUGUSTA.
Thursday Mobmho, SEPT. 28, 1820.
TO DELJA'Q UEJ\'TS.
For the first time, we are compelled to
address our delinquent customers in a
public manner. Our rails have been so
often repeated that our patience and
our funds have become completely ex
hausted. In the city of Augusta a
lone, we have due to us, for the last
year, about $3,000, in the trifling a
mounts of from one to twenty dollars—
very few of the accounts reselling above
this latter amount. Boarding, House
Rent, Paper, Ink, Types, Journeymen’ 1 *
wages, &c. are all to be paid; and how
can we do this if the' products of our la
bour are with-held from us ?—ln fine, we
want our money, and mutt have it—Not
withstanding the hardness of the times, a
Printer’s bill, (so trivial, generally, is the
amount,) can be discharged, without in
convenience by every individual who is
capable of supporting himself.
To-morrow morning, positively for the
last time, Mr. Steele, will wait upon our
delinquent customers; and if a prompt set
tlement is not made, we shall he compel
led in self defence, to resort to the most
decisive measures, no matter how un
pleasant they may be.
To our punctual customers we return
our most since.re acknowledgements; ami
respectfully inform them, that we must
throw ourselves upon their indulgence, in
calling upon them, in conformity with
the terms of our paper, for the advance
of the current year. We duly appreciate
their kindness, and shall always be grate
ful for it.
