Company in Georgia, and the iatier hy A.
Dexter, esq. both having been incorpora

is situate inthc healthy, fertile, and thickly
settled county, of the same name, of whicii
it is the seat of justice—intended to per
petuate two distinguished martyrs* to the
cause of the republic, directly opposite
the eastern point of that highly cultivated,
extensive, and fertile tract of land, known
by the name of the ** ilig Mend." It ad
joins tht: fraction on which the town ol
Alabama stands, and bordering on tin
celebrated river of that name, to which it
it is navigable at all seasons from the Gulf
of Mexico, for steam boats of a large class
—distant about two hundred miles from
Milledgeville; a similar distance from the
sea ports of Mobile and Blakely; about 55
above Gahawba, the seat of government;
and about 12 miles below the junction ol
the Coosa and Talupoosu. It is the poin
at winch the Atlantic mails reach their
first stopping place in the state, and from
whence .Adews may be distributed through
the country with great facilities. Mont
gomery, from its high and airy situation,
the purity of its waters, flowing from its
several springs, and the elevation of the
banks along the river on both sides, which
exclude stagnant waters, is considered pe
culiarly healthy; indeed, many resort to
that section during the summer months,
on that accou.it: It contains many roman

for an infant establishment, it may be call
