FREE SCHOOL.
FfpllE Board of Managers of tills lusli
-fl- tution give public notice to the in
habitants ol Augusta that the School will
be in operation again by the Ist of Nov.
After the death of their late teach
er Mr. Tuck, they immediately consult
ed upon the utast beneficial method of
filling the vacancy. The hostility of our
•donate to strangers, evinced in the early
and 1; meuted death of Mr. Tuck and al
so by other numerous facts, induced the
Board to enquire for some suitable per
son who had la e.n previously accustomed
to the climate, to undertake the manage
ment of the school. Such a person was
found in Mr. Joel Catliu who being dis
posed to give his whole attention to such
an object lor a length of time, was imme
diately sent on to Ncw-York to obtain
the practical knowledge requisite for
the superintendence of a Lancaslerian
School. He is expected to return by the
time above mentioned, when the Semi
nary will be opened and conducted as
heretofore.

QXBJIiBEIi’S SHOP,
(NEAR THE CITT-HdTKL.)
John Baptist Louis,
(CONCEIVES it to be a duty which he
j ones t.o his Irion Is and the public,
to express to them, through this medium,
his thanks for the patronage heretofore
so liberally bestowed upon hnu. He will
make no extraordinary professions of su
periority in the Hhaving art —he is well
aware that an experience of twenty years
will be properly weighed by a considerate
public. As gratitude is without doubt
i he noblest feeling that man possesses, he
knows, at present, of no other mode of
evincing it, Ilian byloweiing his prices to
his numerous and respectable customers
—therefore Hhaving and Hair-Culling
will hereafter be tastily executed at as
moderate a price as wiil be done at any
other place in town. His shop is still at
the old and well-known stand, ear the
City-Hotel, at which latter place (lo bor
row part of the words of another Knight
of the Strop) any gentleman can obtain
an excellent glass of French or Jamaica
Influence. His customers may be assur
ed that they will not. leave his domicile
without being well brushed, and at least
more than half shaved; !.' His principal
aim will hp,
“ To raise the ends by tender strokes of art;
T’improve the head, and render smooth each chin.\
He will not vouch for the rhyme of the
above; and therefore hopes to escape
criticism.
