Convention of St. PetenOurg.
sept. 13, 1824.
The Board under this Convention, on
Saturday last, the 11th inst. unanimously
agreed upon and fixed the following aver
ages to be allowed as compensation for each ;
and every slave for whom* indemnification j
may be due under the said Convention, viz:
For all Slaves taken from the Stale of Louisi
ana, five hundred and Uglily dollars.
For all those taken from the Slates of Alaba
ma, Georgia, and South Carolina, three bunc£
red and ninety dollars.
For all those taken from Maryland, Virginia,
and all other States not named aa above, two
hundred and eighty dollars.
The two Commissioners under thenbove
named Convention, met ibis day under the
new constitution of the Board, as prescri
bed by the 3rd article of Ihe Convention,
and notified the Secretary of State that they
are ready to receive and proceed in the exa
mination ol the Definitive List whenever it
may be submitted to them.
The Board then adjourned till W ednes
day the Slh December next, when, if the
Definitive List shall, in the mean time, be
received, (hey will proceed to an examina
-1 tion of the claims which may be in it state
of preparation for hearing.

the direction of Mr. Jules Didot, Senior. The

ed, in correcting the press, to entitle them to

Most of the later authors, though inferior in
all respects to the elegant edition now offered,
cannot be obtained at less than double the
price; and there is always great delay in pro
curing them Irotn England.
The mode of publication by monthly portions
will, it is presumed, so divide the exponce as to
j place the collection within tlac reach of the
most moderate means ; while the admission of
I subscriptions for detached parts, will permit a
selection to such persons as may not wi=h to
subscribe for the whole.

head, and usually wears his hair fashionably ;
he is suspect ed of having forged fiee papers,
(being an arllul fellow.) with which he may
probably endeavor to escape out ol tin* country,
cither by the way of Charleston or Savannah.
Any person apprehending him and giving infor
