I Captain’Shaw, cf the (hip Abeona, arri-
I veu yesterday from Copenhagen, which he
left about the yth of June, informs, that a
few days before he failed news reached Co.
penhagen of Danzic having surrendered to
the French. The terms cf the capitulation
were not precisely known, it was (fated,
that the were to be permitted to re
turn to their homes, on condition of not ft r.
ving again during the war; that the place
was utterly deftltute of provisions and amu
nition, all expectation of obtaining fappliss
completely truflrated by the vigilance of the
besiegers. The loss of the French, during
the siege, was eftlmated at 30,000 men ; that
of the Priiffims and Ruffians, was like wife
cunfiderable, but feme what Ida than the •
French.
The fall of Dantzic, and the belief that
prevailed, in confrquence of the late armif.
tice, of Sweden’s being about to take a part
with France, had greatly affefted the trade
of Copenhagen, Little or nothing was done
there.
The grand army Hill retained their pofi.

PROPOSALS
By JAMES EWELL,
PHYSICIAN IN SAVANNAH)
Far printing by Sub/cription, a nrw and
greatly improved Family Fbyjician i
ENTITLED,
THE PLANTERS AND MARINERS
Medical Companion.
ON this important fubjeft many books
have been written, which, though ex
cedent in cnlier rcfpefts, have yet greatly
failed of this ufcfulncfs to Americans, be.
cause they treat of difcafe# which, cxifting
in very different climates and conffitudons,
muff. w idely differ from ours. The book now
offered to the public has, therefore, the great
advantage of having been Written by a na.
tive American of long and fuccefbful praftic*
in these Southern Stales, and w ho, for years
pass, has turned much of his attention to this
very interesting fubjefl. He is very fan.
guine that his book will prove exceedingly
ufcful to all families, but more eTpecially to
those living in fcattereJ neighborhoods where
regular medical attendance cannot easily be
obtained. For the use of families thus unfor
natdy circumfiancd, the author has prepared
his Planter’s and Mariner’s Medical Com
panion, which treats, in the molt clear and
concise manner, altnoft every disease to which
the human body is liable, with its name,
symptoms, causes, regimen* cure, & means
of prevention r—To which are subjoined, a
treatise on the diseases peculiar to women and
children ; and a differration on such cases aa
generally occur in Surgery j with a Difpen
fatory, Ihtwing how to prepare the most ufe
fdl family medicines, with their proper do.
fes ; and a Dictionary, explaining the tcch
nical terms used in this woik. With Aich
a guide as this, a country gentleman may be
enabled to meet a disease in the firft moment
of its attack, and thus, where a phyficiun
cannot readily be bad, may he made the hap.
py inffrument of preferring lives as valuable
as dear,
