Proposals
( FOR PUBLISH IKS BY SUBSCRIPTION,
THE LIFE OF
Maj. Gen, James Jackson
BY THOMAS U. P. CHARLTON.
A citizen of Savannah.
With considerable labor and difficulty I i
hive collected matciials which will enable
me to complete, in a few wctki, the life of
major-general James Jackson.
f The chiraOer of this late diftmgmfhtd
citizen, was always held in high estima
tion by the republican intcreft of the U.
States ; and even his enemies (if all enmity
is not now buried in the grave) mufl ac
knowledge* that ue was a brave fuldier, an
incorruptible ft itcfman and an honell man.
The memoirs I arn preparing for publica
tion will be thus divided—
iff Period — Will detail ike revolutiona
ry services of general Jackson, and, col
laterally, the fer vices cf many patriotic
Georgians, from 1776, to the evacuation of
Savannah, in 1783.
2d Period —Will detail*hls political and
civil pursuits, from 1782 to 1806. This
di viilon of the memoirs will contain a hifto.
ry of the Yazoo Speculation in the
flare of Georgia, from the commencement cf
the fraud to its subversion, in 179') ; and
will also embrace the proceedings of the house
of repref.mtativcs and the fenatc of the (late
of Georgia, and of the house of reprefema.
lives of the congress of the U. States, in
the year 1791, on the celebrated enntefted ,
election of general Anthony Wayne.
This work will he printed on an oftava
page, and will probably contain 350 or 40*
pages.
The price to fubfcrlbers, (as the expenses
of publication nra at prtfent edima'ed) will
be two cUlUrs fifty— one dollar of which
ar tIE be paid as the timeoffubferihing.
As soon as 1000 fubferibers (hill hare
made this advance, the money and the «ian
ufeript will itc delivered to the publisher,
THOMAS U. P. CHARLTON.
