shape of a note or due-bill, purport
ing to be drawn by me, for any sum of
money, in favor of John Bergen, late
of Augusta, now of Wilkinson county,
as the omy pa. er of that description which
he now or ever did hold of mine, is one
for forty dollars, given I believe in Au
gust last; to this note, the name of Wil
liam iViagirt is affixed as an evidence, and
a credit op the back of it for 8 dollars—

AS this healthful and eligible situation
is so well known, it is unnecessary
to say much—being detached from noise
and tumult, and favored with o Church,
wherein Divine Service Is regularly per
formed; no place could be better caku*
lated for the improvement of the young
mind, and to lead youth into the paths
of virtue and happiness.
Mrs. Smith, a native of Geneva,
(Switzerland) most respectfully tenders
her services to the public as Tutoress.—
She will teach Spelling and Rcadihg, in
English, the French language grammat
ically, and tho various kinds of Needle-
Work, Netting, &c. such as Plain, Tam
hour, and Embroidery, See. English Gram
mar. Writing, Arithmetic, Geography
(•with the use of the Globes) Music,
Drawing and Dancing, will be taught by
approved Masters.
She has taken t)ic house lately occupi
ed by the Rev. Mr. Holcombe, on the
Mount, which is specious and well cal.
culated for the purpose of accommodating
the young Ladies, placed under her care,
and will at all every attention,
as well as use every exertion in her power
to render general satisfaction; the strict
cat attention will be paid, to the manners
and etiquette, as well as the intellectual
improvement, of all committed to her care
She is an experienced Tutoress, ha
ving taught some years in New Bruns
wick and Trenton (New-Jersey) and Sa
vannah, with approbation; sufficient tes
timonials of her good character, qualifi
cations, and abilities, both oral as well as
written, are at hand. ■
She will attend two hours each day
from (12, Oil 2 o'clock) at Mr. Carr's A
cadcmy, to instruct young gentlemen in
the Trench language. She flatters her- |
self that a generous public will give her a
liberal support, and make permanent this
establishment-—on her part she willexcr

a continued and pleasing approbation.
