The President has been pleased to is
ue the fallowing proclamation, of which
sue notice will be taken.-
By the President of the United States
of America,
A PROCLAMATION.
Whereas, information has been re
ceived that a number of individuals, wh(s
have dtstrt d from the Army of the
United States, have become sensible of
their offences, and are desirous of return*
ing to their duty :
A full pardon is hereby granted and
p/oclaimed to each and all such individ
uals as shall within three months from
the date hereof, surrender themselves to
the commanding officer of any millitary
post within the United Stales or the ter
ritories thereof.
In testimony whereof, I have caused
the seal of the United States to be
affixed to these presents, and signed
the same with my hand.
Done at the City of Washington the
seventeenth day of June, A. D. one
thousand eight hundred and four
teen, and of the Independence of the
United Slates the thirty eighth.

All officers and solchiys of the army
are requested to continue their exertions
in detecting and bringing to trial desert
ers from the army.
A premium not exceeding fifty dollars
for each des'i ter will be paid by the com
manding officer of the post garrison or
district to which he may be brought and
delivered. All officers and soldiers arc
required to enforce the law against such
citizen or citizens as shall entice or pro
cure a soldier to deseit. The words of
the law are as follows, viz:
“ Be it enacted ife. That every person,-
not subject to the rules and articles of war,
who shall procure or entice a soldie rin
the service of the United States, to de.
sert; or who shall purchase from any
soldier, his arms, uniform clothing, or any
part thereof; and every Captain or com
manding officer ol any ship or vessel, who
shall enter on board such ship or vessel
as one of his crew, knowing him to have
deserted, or otherwise carry away any
such soldier, or shall refuse to deliver him
up to the orders of bis commanding of
ficer, shall upou legal conviction, be fined
at the discretion of any court having cog
nizance of the same in any sum not ex
ceeding three hundred dollars; and be
imprisoned any term not exceeding one
year.

the Department of war, until 12 o’clock
at noon of Saturday, the last day of De
cember next, for the supply of all rations
that may be required for the use of the
United States from the first day of June,
1815, inclusive, to the Ist day of June,
1816, within the states, territories and
districts following viz.
Ist. At Detroit, Michilimackinack, Ft!
Wayne, Chikago, and their immediate
vicinities and at any place or places where
troops are or may be stationed, marched
or recruited, within the territoly of
Michigan, the vicinity of the Upper Lakes
and the state of Ohio.

druited within the states of Kentucky and
Tennessee. .
