Resotved, That the bucks of subscrip
tion to the “Marineand Fire Imurance
Company,** bt opened on Monday, the
sih day of February next, at iO o’clock
a, m- at the long toom of the Exchange,
in Savannah, by the commissioners, or a
majority of them, and that the am<unt
rif subscription of each individual, or bo
dy corporate, js hereby limited to one
hundted shares; and, provided, that if
there should be an excess of stock sub
Scribed for, that the commissibness shall
apportion the subscription according to
the amount each person shall have sub
scribed ; but, if the capital s.cck should

books be continued open every succeed
t ing day at the same hour and place for
> further subscription, without limit, until
the whole capital shall be subscribed.
Thai fifty per centum be paid
down on the amount of stock subscribed
for, at the time of subscription, in specie;
bunk bills of the banks of Georgia,South
Carolina, and of the state bank of North
Carolina; and that the remaining fifty
per centum, be paid within twelve months
after, in such manner as shah be pre
scribed by the directors, they giving thir
ty days notice of the same in the public
gazettes of this city, Augusta and Mil
ledgt vilit; and, that upon defaulcation in
such payment or payments, the original
mo unt oi fifty per centum, and all mo
nies previously paid shall become for
feited to the company.
Resolved , That the secretary provide
the necessary books and have the same
prepared for the day of subscription.
Resolved , That the foregoing resolu*

George Pearson’s, and is well known a*
bout Augusta. A reward of Ten Dol

This institution it is hoped, will com*
mence, under auspices inferior to none
of a similar nature in the Southern coun
try. Situated in a village, healthy, a.
gieeuble, and distinguished for its mo
rafity ; and under the luperimendunce
of Uachers eminently qualified to edu
cate the youth of buth sexes; with thes
advantages, the Trustees fondly btfieve,
tbeir labor for Its establishment, will not
be in vain.
The Trustees have employed Mr* J.
Ingraham, of MiddUbury College, who
with the requisite assistants, will take
charge of the male department j and
Miss D. M. Stebbins, an experienced,
and atcomplished teach vr from New*
York, to superintend* the instruction of
Young Ladies.
The terms of tuition, will be in the
Male department, for the minor class,
Ten Dollars for the second or Gram
1 mar class, Fifteen Dollars; and for the
highest class, including the Latin and
Greek Languages, Mathematics, tec.
Twenty Four Dollars per annum, paya.

language, which, being considered extra

Columbia county, two N’ geo men,
PADDY & D WY—They are suspect
ed to be about one or the other of the
Plantations belonging to the estate of He*
z.kiah Beal,dec. viz. the oni lying on Bri
ar creek, near Walker’s bridge; the
other in the river swamp, between Spirit
creek and Macbean. They are well
kpown in the vicinity of both of these
plantations, and are generally thought
and believed to be harbored about one or
the other of them alternately. Any per.
son who shall apprehend either or both
of the above named negroes and deliver
them in Augusta or Waynesborough
Jail, or to the subscriber, shall have
Ttventy Five Dollars a piece.

slow spoken, and about 22 years old—
The ether an African, by the flame of
May, stout made, flearly six feet high,
speaks broken, sensible and ready to give
an answer when spoken to, a Methodist
by profession, 1 suppose they will try to
go 10 Charleston. Any person who will
apprehend said Negroes so that I can get
them again, shall be well rewarded for
the trouble or expense they may be at.
