Extract of a letter from Liverpool, dated
January 6, 1821.
“ We haye now the pleasure of sending
onr correspondents the statements of im
port and stock at, the close of the year,
from which yon wiii observe that although
it clearly appears the consumption has
greatly increased still the fact that the
planter lias been thus handsomely remu
nerated, aid coineqneiuly not experi
enced any cause for n dneing his growth,
b it oil the couatrary to go on increasing,
vast as die consumption is, without some
new channel for demand, or a falling off in
a supply, any advance on present prices
does not seem probable. Indeed until the
article gets below what it can possibly be
brought io market for, we cannot hope

Accounts of a letter dated from Ireland
present the state of that country in a most
melancholy point of view. Most of the
formers are ruined in consequence oftheir
land being held at war rents, which from
the extreme low price of provisions, they

contains the following paragraph : (

On morion of Mr. Clay-, with the ex
pressed wish of the Speaker in favor of
that course, it was ordered that the com
mittee on the part of tins house, consist

The bill making appropriations for the
support of the Navy for the year 1821, and
the bill authorizing the erection of ctr
