Proposals,
For publishing in siut'uitmi’, Eiit-Viorida,
A Weekly Paper ,
TO BZ BWTITLKO
The Florida Gazette.
It is the glorious characteristic of fbe
age in which we live, that the Press, tint
the herald, is always the attendant upon
every revolution, having for its object Ute
emancipation of mind or the hzpP l " •
man. The Provinces of Florida having,
now become n part of the territory ot the
United States, it is believed that the tide
of emigration will set rapidly towards
her shores increasing her wealth, ana
filling her ports with our enterprising ana
industrious fellow citizens of the ma
States, and offering a home and a refuge
to tiie exile and fugitive from the oppres
sion of European thraldom. Favored bv
nature with a fruitful soil— abounding in
articles of luxury and commerce, and
blessed with » climata more congenial to
th s constitution of the stranger and sojour
ner than the Southern stales, this section
of our Country must become great and
powerful, and in lime rival its neighbois
in Ag riculture, in Commerce and in Arts
With these impressions, and under the
bdief that a well conducted Press is one
of the most powerful auxiliaries, not only
to morality and religion, bat in promot
mg the welfare of any particular section
of<country, Hie -subscribers propose to
.publish in the City of St. Augustine, a
News paper, under the above title.
The Editors of the Gazette do not wish
to make promises, or to raise expecta
tions which may never be realized. It is
sufficient |lo say that, the politics of their
publications shall be Aaoicw, and their
conduct in the management shall be in
strict accordance with the maxim—
«* Opai (• all partial Invoiced by none?’
It will be the object of their industry
and labor to render the Gazette the vehi
cle of the latest intelligence, Political,
Commercial and Literary, and no effort
will be spared to render it a pleasing, and
interesting and a valuable Publication-

SCIOLTO was got by the imported
sorrel -Diotned; his dam by Wildair; his
grand dam by Spadille; his great grand
dam by the imported horse Crulford; —as
to the beauty, muscular power, and ele
gant form of Scielto, we have as yet seen
no horse that is as well to recommend
himself ; we have it sufficiently certified
that Sciolto has never been trained or pun
ned by gentlemen who were known to his
foaling; as such ? have no account of his
performance, but challenge the best
judges to find any deficiency in farm, shape
or action ; as such I candidly pronounce
him one among the best horses in Ameri- ■
