AUGUSTA’
MUM DAY JULY 9.
QCj* We are requested to state, that an
exposition d\‘faci s, in connection with the
late pretended protest of the minority of
our Slate Legislature, against certain
Treasures of that body, will, in « short
turn, be developed, so as to convince t
very unbias’d member of the political
community, of that int ention other than
the people's interest, whiclt led to such a
measi’t*. — Which said protest was not of
fered to the bouse, as it is not to be found
on the journals. An unheard of thing in
legislative or. parliamentary proceedings !
(£/■ We owe to Mr. William B. Tankorsly
an apology for omitting to correct in our
paper, a typographical error which ap
pealed in his late address to tne citizens of
Columbia County. The hurry of business
and the lateness of the hour in which his
manuscript was handed for publication,
will, we hope, with him, excuse the over
sight. An errata however, to our sheet,
has been supplyed by a writer in the Geor
gia Journal, over the signature of Socrates
but wi’h what commendable intention, we
will not Ictive to hi* candour to explain.—
Barren, indeed, must b. the subject, and
malevolent the heart, when such a pah y
subterfuge is resorted to to supply the de
