Me issensible of the brnfesoional objections which are so often urged against Patent Medicines ; but it is not for him to say that such objections are sinister. He can only observe that the Medical properties of his Detergent can only be tested by its use. The first volume of the EUTERPEIAD or MUSICAL INTELLIGENCER AND LADIES GAZETTE, ended in April.— The second Volume has commenced, much improved, and considerably enlarg ed, comprising eight quarto pages with a sheet of Music in every number, and is published semi monthly, on Saturdays, at three dollars per annum, by John R. Parker, No. 2, Milk-Street, Boston. May 31 The Subscriber, SOLICITS those who can furnish him with evidencr, to enable him to pros ecute with satisfaction, three persons who were concerned in maltreating his man servant COMUS, on the Washington road, this side of Col. Man’s on the eve ning of the Sdinst.—The hoy was furnish ed with a pass wheih he propuccd (with out effect) and was by those men beaten in a shameful manner—when .a certain gentleman came up and informed them that his pass was not out by one -week, the negro does not know who was nis friend, being an African, understands but little English; scarcely enough to be under stood—should a reward be expected, any thing reasonable will be granted by Isaac Laßoche, Apply to A. Caro lina, to Halifax, Charlotte, Prince Edward, and Cumberland court-houses, by Carters ville to Fredericksburg, Va. where it a gain unites with the main northern line; pursuing through the whole distance a high, plesant, healthful and cheap coun tty, (from a third to a fourth cheaper than ‘ the lower route)with entertainment equal ly good, if not better, and affording suffi cient rest every night to the passengers. This line will leave Edgefield court-house every Wednesday morning, on the arrival of the Augusta stage—and if cheapness, ease and health be of any importance in travelling, this Line ought surely to meet with a portion of the public patronage, particularly in the warm season. / 6 eo. A Great Bargain. ’ -"-NOW offer for sale, the tract of Land whereon I now live, supposed to contain about sixteen hundred acies, being in the counties of Wilkes and Lincoln; on Fish mg Greek, twelve miles from Washington and nine from Petersburg. The land is of the first quality, and in a most excellent repair for farming. It has the convcniency of a good Dwelling and out houses, together with large ov chardsof excellent fruits, such as apples, peaches; pear*, damasons, plums, Bcc. This tract of land may be had for one third less than the real value. If the quantity of acres should be too great, persons wishing to purchase, can be accommodated with any named num her. Ihe conditions will be liberal, such, as one third cash, and the balance in two annual payments. Should I not sell between this and the latter part of the fall, the above land will be rented; for 1 am determined on remov mgto the state of Alabama the ensuing year. I have no other motive to sell than the one just mentioned, and to settle land I possess in Alabama of more value to me, though I conceive the tract of land and the improvemena thereon, now offered for sale, as the best farm in the upper part of this state. She may aim for Mtlledgeville, as she is w’ell acquainted there, having lived in the fa mily of Mr. Thomas Husen of that place; I have reasons to believe she has a forged pass in her possession and probably a free one, which she may rely upon in travel fing. All persons are cautioned against employing her in any way, as the law will be rigidly inforced against any person of fending in that way. A reward of Twenty Dollars will be paid for her being lodged in any Jail in this state or South-Caroli na, and information given me. A. Bogg.
