The excitement which bus spread
throughout the whole Southern country,
in eonsequuee of the unrighteous Tariff

in the political sentiments of the citizens
of (lie Mouth, as touching the powers of
the General Government-—which ditfer
cnee, it is our candid belief, will in a
greatpinensurehe removed, by laying br
fore them, in as clear and intelligiljlc
form us possible, the principles and cor
rect policy of our entirely new and expe
rimental government. The course \vc

linr, as might have been wished. The
disputes of parties have usurped too
argely the columns of the few orthodox
papers in onrcouutry, to allow a candid,
sober and dispassionate investigation of
our national policy—and. of the delicate
relations which exist—and which were
intended by tlio framers of the United
(States Constitution to cxii-t—between
the several (States and the federal Gov
ernment. We would not indeed by the
expression o! this opinion, be supposed
to accuse those prints of dereliction of
duty, but merely to state a fact, which
must he apparent to the Editors tliem

(Schools of thi - kind established |in
Tennessee and in the Middle and North
ern Stale:- have flourished beyond the ex
pectations of the most sanguine. Hun
dreds of applications to jailer students
have been rejected during the year for
the want of accommodation. The writer
has been urged by several respectable
and literary gentlemen, who have prom
ised their sons, to open a similar one in
Georgia and lie now designs to make the
experiment. Eo many mouths have c
lapsed in fixing on a site, since he formed
the determination, that he has not lime
to state nil the particulars of his plan;
nor will ho make high pretensions in re
gard to his qualifications nor (he amount
that shall bo learned. He will endeavor
however to impart, instruction as far ami
as well as he is able. Assistance will
bo procured in teaching the mechanic
arts and some of common the branches
of Education. The object is to make
practical men and quality them to be
come good teachers of schools.
In government, he will endeavor to
ad the part of a parent and treat the pu
pils us his children ; hut lie must lie obey
ed. He desires no parent to send his son,
who is unwilling to have him submit to
the regulations of the school. Each stu
dent, will labor bio or three hours in the day
or about one titty and ft httlj tit the week,—
Care will be taken, as the weather grows
warm, that they he not exposed to n mid
day sun, till they become inured to athle -
tic exercise, by employing the mornings
and evenings. (So many hours will not
he requisite nil the year, but in a busy
season, semewhat. more.
Each student will provide himself with
sheets, towels & blankets —and il would
he economical for him to haven coarse
suit to wear during the hours of labor.
Hooks, stationary, oil. &o. will he fur
nished thor-T? who need them at the low
est price. The times of examinations and
vacations cannot now he named. Roli
gious service will be attended every sab
bath in Eatouton, a little more than a mile
distant.
Those who wish to enter their sons
must give information and secure places
by the Kith of January. The school will
be opened on the 23d.
