Navy, is at Point Isabel, with nlioiil 40
sailors and marines from the U. S. brig

the place. You can imagine the confu

At Point Isabel, grealfcar* were enter

P** 1 ®!** exposed situation of the post could
not be otherwise than successful if conduc-
tod with energy. The post is defended by
Major Munroe, with a detachment of 80
anflUrieta. There are also at tho post a.
borrl 200 armed wagoners and 60 laborers
under the orders of the Quartermaster, and
some |00 citizens furnished with arms by
tfio U. S. Ocdaance officer, organized under
th« command of Capt. Perkins, and deno-
minated tho Fronton Guards. A company
Smith’s command, and Gen. Gaines writes
on the 2d inst. u> Gov. Johnson, of La. that
they “shall receive their arms and fixed
ammunition within the next twenty four
hours, when the requisite steam transporta
tion will be ready.
in a poeicripi, Gen. G. says—“I look for
a battalion of regular troops from Jefferson
Barracks, in a day or two: I wish to send
to Point Isabel the regulars with the vol
unteers.”
Gov. Johnson, in Orders No. I, calls for
foul regiments of Volunteers, to be mus
tered into service for tbe term ofsix rnohtbs,
unless sooner discharged:
