A T a meeting of the Board of Education of said
county, held on tha 13th day of November i860,
their Honors. John Jackson. Wm. IV. Kendrick and
JohnCarr Brown, Justice* of the Inferior Court, and
Samuel 1>. Irvin. Ordinary, being present, the follow
induction was had—ordered to he spread upon the
Minute* and published in the Albany “Batriot for
two|months, for the benefit of all persons interested,
' The Board of Education of the County of Dough
erty, formed in pursuance of an Act of the legisla
ture, passed December 1859, will meet at the Court
House in smid county on the 2nd Monday in Janua
ry next, for the purpose of auditing accounts of
Teachers for the year ending January 1st, 1861.
All persons having claims against the Educational
fund of Dougherty county, are hereby notified to
nreaenL them in person at that time, or they will be
debarred from * participation in the distribution
then to be made.
Before the account of any Teacher will be allowed,
they will have to satisfy the Board by a public ex-
amiaation, of their competency to teach the Elemen
tary branches of an English education.
The account of each teacher when presented, must
show the name of each pupil taught, and the number
of days for which they claim payment—it must be
plainly and distinctly made out. that it may be ea
sily understood, or it will be rejected—each account
must be verified by the oath of the teacher: taken
and subscribed in the presence of the Board, by
whom the form of the oath will he prescribcd-
lloard reserving to themselves the right to req
any teacher to support their affidavit by other
donee whenever they shall think proper. •
The Board will expect each teacher also, as ir
nation for future reference, to furnish them with
the following facts:
1st. The whole number of children taught during
the year.
2nd. The number taught the Elementary branches
of *an English education—under this head give the
number tangbt Spelling, Reading, Writing and
Arithmetic.
3rd. The number taught the higher branches of
Education—in this class include all such children os
Have been taught in any branches higher than
Reading Writing nnd Arithmetic.
The Educational fund in this county is intended
for the benefit of those children only whose parents.
*re unable from tteir poverty to afford them qach
facilities—Teachers therefore will save themselves
and the Board much trouble by not presenting their
accounts for any but such as nre known to fall
within the rule.
All persons residing in the county feeling an in-
in the cause of Education, are respectfully in-
ftiUd to meet the Board at the time and place desig
ned, and give them the benefit of any suggestions
aaay desire to make, with a Tie* to advance
^•e eauac of Common School Education within the
M»ita of said county.
