State Treasury Notes.*
There arc three classes of these: evidences of
State indebtedness in circulation, sod at the present
time many speculations are indulged in as .to their
/eal value, or, in other words, to what extent will
the State of Georgia tax her people to preserve her

I notes on the 25tndayof December, 1864, or within
three months (rom tliat date-; otherwise not redeema-
ble except irivaymcul of public dues. The effect of
the latter clause.is-US pled e them*itfa of the State to
receive this issue in liquidation oLaH:taxes and pub
lic dues after _ihe iOlb of.March,, 1865, the third
class is ibe State change bills, redeemable only in

sues of the State worth? They are worth the. pligt-

legislature takes place, is probably the best answer
that can be given. Those who are fully advised of

to resort to t|ie dishonoring scheme of repudiation, to
avoid the paymentmfa debt which is principally held
by her own citizens. If Georgia is true to herself,
herindebtedness of all kinds, will be regarded as a re-
sponsipility that cannot be avoided. This her citi
zens, one and al),ought to feel,and while they expert
t<fcontribuie proportionality to the payment of the
debt, there should be no disposition to decry public
credit evinced io'any quarter.
