TO THE CITIZENS OF GEORGIA. m™**
Ih.e termination of a sanguinary contest, .which j r
for the past four years has presented an impassable
barrier to.all sociaj or uommerqi&l intercourse be
tween the two great sections of our country, haying
at length fe&ppily- cleared away all obstacles to 0
renewal of these relations which formerly bound, us
togethei$n a fraternal upion, I take the earliest
opportunity afforded by this auspicious event, to
greet my Southern friends, and to solicit from them
a renewal of that e*t$nsiye business which for a
quarter of a century lias been uninterrupted save by
the great publiccalamity to which 1’bave adverted.
It'is scarcely’ necessary, on the. threshold of a
business re-union I should repeat the warning so
often given to my friends—io' beware of a)l these
spurious, and deleterious compounds which, under
the specious and false titles 'of Imported Windfc y
Brandies, Holland Gin, Liquors, $p., have been
equally destructive to the health of our citizens as
prejudicial to the interests of the legitimate Im
porter. . - " • %
•Many years of my past life, have been expended
in an open and candid attempt to expose these
wholesale frauds;~ ab time nor expense has been
spared to accomplish this salutary purpose, and to’
place before my friends and the public generally y .
at the lowest market price, and in such quantities
as might suit their convenience, a truly genuine
imported artielp.
Twenty-five years’ busjncs? transactions with the
largest and most respectable exporting houses in
France an4 threat Britain have afforded mo unsur
passed facilities for supplying our home park'd with
Amines, Liquors, and Liqmures of tho best and most
approved brands-in Europe, in addition to my owu
distillery in Holland for the manufacture of the
•* Schiedam Sclraaps.”
The latter, so long tested and approved by the
jnedical Faculties of tbs flnited States, West Indies
and South America as an jnvaluablo Therapeutic, a
wholesome, pleasant, apd perfectly safe beverage
in all plioiatss and during all seasons, quickly cxii-
fpdiqe cupidity of the home manufacturers and ven
ders of a spurious article under the game name.
I thrust that I hayg, after much toil and expense,
Surrounded all my importations with safeguards and
directions which With ordinary circumspection will
iqsure their delivery* as Ireceiye them frpjn Europe,
to all ray customers.
I would, however, ecomihend iirall cases where
it is possible, that orders be sentdirect to my depot,
22 leaver Street, New York, qr that purchases be
made of my accredited agents.
In addition to a largo" stock of Wines, Brandies
&Cm in wood,.! have a considerable supply of old
tried foreign Wines, embracing vintages of many
years past, bottled up before'the coinmcncempjit of
the war; which I can especially recommend to all
connoisseurs of these rare luxuries.
In conclusion, I would specially call the early at
tention of my Southern customers to the advantage
to be derived by transmitting their orders without
loss of time, or calling’ personally at the dqpot,
order to insure the fulfilment of their orders out of
Jhepresent large and well selected assortment.
