The New York Herald, 61 Sunday, has the
following:
Iti Southern securities the Teunossees were
strong, but the list was othoswise without fea
ture. The earnings of tho North Carolinu
Railroad for the months of May and Jane,
1800, were $78,300 52, aud the expenses $50,-
720 72, making tho net earnings $27,570 80.
In tho corresponding months of 1808 the
earnings were $00,020 51, the expenses $57,-
•104 82, and the nut earnings $12,104 70, an
increase in gross earnings of $8,071 and in
net earnings of $15,40C 10. The South
western Railroad of Georgia reports its
f ross earnings for the year eudiug July
1. 1809, at $010,110 06, and it* operat
ing expenses, including tuxes, os $549,720,
or about sixty per cent, leaving as net earn
ings the sum ot $360,380. Two four per cent
dividends wore paid out of the earnings, leav
ing a trifling surplus. The receipts were
$10,000 less, and the operating expenses $28.-
600 less than during the previous year. The
shipments of cotton were less by 75,000 bales
thuu those of the previous year.* The follow
