[For the Savannah National Republican ]
THE FENIAN VISION.
BT D. MSAOHEB.
From clumbers deep one night I woke,
Methought I heard my name
Pronounced in ancient Celtic tones,
Nor knew I whence it came;
But bright before my eyes, I ween,
As flitfullv they strayed,
In letters bold, I read the words,
“Your country needs your aid.”
Twas not a dream ; a deadly fear
Was mingled with my pride ;
I found it vain to remonstrate,
My fears would not subside.
In hurried haste I read the words,
« A. million has obeyed—
Old Ireland free again shall be,
Oh! brothers lend your aid.”
I looked, and saw old Erin’s flag,
The flag of green and gold,
With Victory, Peace and Liberty
Inscribed on evtSry fold.
It floated in the balmy breeze
Above a million braves,
Who sought Hibernia’s freedom, or
Their, sires’ becrimsoned graves.
But better that than bondage such
As Saxons only know,
Who’d fain degrade our sainted isle,
Already sunk in woe.
In boyish pride I rose and girt
The sword I lately sheathed,
The same my grandsire to his son
On Aughrims’ field bequeathed.
Old Erin’s hills were all aglow ;
Before my gladdened eyes
I saw the British rag descend,
' The Irish flag arise.
A shout of joy rose far above
The thundering battle's roar ;
’Twas heard in France, and echoed back
From fair Columbia’s shore.
I joined the throng on phantom wings,
Across the sea I sped ;
Old Tara’s harp breathed tranquilly
“The green above the red.”
My country’s daughters silent wept
O'er many a brother’s bier,
Who purchased liberty by death,
Nor thought the price too dear.
A thousand cannon swept the hills,
The blow at length was struck,
The throne of haughty England
Beside its sceptre shook.
Above each tower and fort arose
Our banners in the sky ;
The God of Battles saw and blest
Our army from on high.
The vision passed ; I was alone
In midnight’s holy hour ;
I did not dare to disobey
That strange, unyielding power ;
So cheerfully, ’twhxt Hope and Fear,
1 flew across the sea,
A blow to strike for Erin’s wrongs,
And one to set her free.

It has been ascertained that eighty-five per
cent, of the six hundred and foity officers of
the Veteran Reserve Corps have been wound
ed in battle, some of them as many as seven
tirrnft. Five per cent, became disabled from
other causes, and ten per cent, from diseases
contracted in the line of doty. Ninety-one
underwent amputations. There were eight
dissections of the arm, and sixteen lost an
eye. There is a probability that this corps
will be made permanent by the ensuiifg Con
gress ; as they have rendered important service
in war, it is not doubted they will efficiently
perform their duty in time of peace.

How to Meet the CU olera.
First, have u clear conscience. Next attend
to the following directions:
Cholera has two stages, g premonitory, or mild
stage, and a stage ot collapse, which is fatal —
The premonitory stage is ushered in by a mild
painless diarrhoea, which generally continue*
for hours, sometimes days, before the stage of
collapse seta in. In tbir premonitory stage tbe
disease is readily and promptly curable by simple
remedies combined with rest in the recumbent
position. All thatie necessary, therefore, to pre
vent a fatal attack of cholera is that tbe patient
shall lie down, keep warm and quiet, and take
eheb remedies as will reHeve tbe difccsboea.
A knowledge of these fadts led many English
towns, in former visitations of cholera, to orgao-

Dr. Sand’s Specific,
■ I'HE oldest and most reliable medicine for tbe cure
X of Spermatorhcea, Seminal Weakness, Loss of Pow
er, Ac. This medicine has stood the test of over thir
ty years and has always proved a success.
DB, BAND’S SPECIFIC is exhibited in the form ot
pill., made np entirely of substances that have a speci
fic efloct upon tbe generative organs. Most persons
associate the idea of operations upon the bowels from
takingsuur kind of pills. The Svnano of Dr, Rond is
not intended a* an avaouvrraa Maujoin. Its medici
nal virtues are expended entirely upon the impaired
regenerative organs. The pills are not unpleasant to
tbe taste, and many persons masticate them with tm-
pnnity belbre swallowtng them; whiSh plan we would
always recommend, as affording the speediest way to
get ffie effect o( the remedy.-
