How dim nad grown thy eye,

But soon the scorching Borer’s blast

Cotton—The receipts of cotton sines the 2d
instant, hare been as follows, viz: 4,919 bales
of Upland, 2? 6 do Sea Island, and 29 bales of
Domestics. The exports during the same period
hare bean 8,297 bales of Upland, 278 bales of Sea
I,land, and 84 bales of Domestics—leaving a
stock on hand and on shipboard not cleared of
766 bales of Upland, 289 bales of Sea Island,
and 245 bales of Domestics.
At tbe close of our last weekly review, yr*
stated that a decline of lalj^c pec lb had bean
established on tbe middling qualities of Cotton,
owing to s decline in the European and Northern
markets. Since then the market has rallied, and
during the week tbe decline then noticed baa
br en recovered and holders are now very firm at
our quotations, with a decided disposition to in-
orsaea their rstee. The stock on sale is how very
small, and it is thought that all tbe Cotton from
the interior will reach our market by the middle
of January, holders are not disposed to cell, except
at very full prices. There is but little donbt but
that the prioe of the staple will greatly advance
iu the next sixty days. AH now offered is freely
taken at the following quotations, duty paid :

Sea Islands—There ia very little done in this
article, in consequence of tbe limited stock placed
ou sale. The finer grades are mostly in request,
but the g -eater part of the receipts are of a very
inferior quality. In the unsettled state of the
market, it is only necessary to give extremes,
which are from 75c to #1 25 per lb, while most of
the transactions are at $lal 10. Nearly all the
receipts are badly prepared and of inferior staple.
