SAVANNAH MARKETS.
Natioxal Republica* Office, 1
Savannah, Dec, 15, 1865. J
Rev arks—Nothwithstending the inclement
weather, experienced during the pact week, a
fair amount of business has been transacted in
most of the leading articles, and while we have no
material change to note in prices, the market for
iSes: articles has exhibited a decided downward
tendency, which is no donbt induced by the tall
in prices at the North, and the full stocks at
present in the hands of onr merchants. A
moderate inquiry has prevailed for goods for the
Rwtericr, and the anticipated rise in the rivers
Ewitit likely have u tendency to increase the or
ders from the interior.
Obbtos—The receipts of cotton since the 8th
%itani, .hr.re been as follows, viz: 8,668 bales
' of Cptabd, 101 do Sea Island, and 203 bales of
Dome-tics. The exports daring the same period
have been 3,001 bales of Upland, 83 bales of Sea
ilstadd. and .>43 bales of Domestics—leaving a
stock on hand and on shipboard not cleared Of
•6x4 bales of Upland, 357 bales of Sea Island,
and 232 bales or Domestics.
In onr last weekly review we reported that
the market had recovered from the decline noted
ie week previous, and holders were firm, with a
spcs’iion to increase their demands. ^During
the forepart of the present week the market has
been quite dull and but very little was done in
consequence of the inclement weather. On ThurS'
day, however, accounts from Liverpool to the
2d inst. were received by telegraph, announcing
an advance ia that market for the week of lj£d,
^ *W'.io V es of 140,000 for the week. This news
Caused quite astir in onr market, and considera-
-* ble quantities of the article changed bands at full
* rates. Yesterday the market again became very
Amiet, tat holders remained very firm and in some
demanded an advance, to which buyers
not disposed to yield. Our figures, which
we give below, wiil give a fair index of prices
current at the close yesterday:

Sea Islands—The stock on sale is very limited,
and in consequence there is but little done in the
article. The finer grades are morthly in request,
bat the greater portion of the receipts are of a
inferior quality. We quote:
Common sea island 84a90

Feotes—Preparatory to the Christmas hSli.
days, onr merchsfp are receiving„ fair stocks of
dried frnita. Raisins are in good demand at
60 per box; Dried Figs SOcfper lb; Prunes
50c per lb. These articles are all of the new
crop and ef fine quality.
Lbmoes—A few lemons have reached our mar
ket during the week, which are held at $12al4
per box! ■ *
Lxsd—Has dec'ined during the week about

Re limited inqnry for the article We quote
Prime leaf 27a29c; Pressed 25a27c per lb.
Luis—Utfr market still continues to be poOrly
supplied with good Lime. Pure Rockland is
worth $4 per barrel, and Slacked Lime (2 per
barrel.
Lcxbsb—There is considerable lumber now on
the market, both Southern and Northern. The
arrivals of Southern during the week have been
rather light in consequence of a break in the
canal. Several lots have been offered to arrive (
but buyers are not disposed to pay the prices
demanded. The large number of mills now in
oonrse of erection ead repair, will soon floo t a
market with the article, when a considerable re
daction may be looked for in prices. In e
preeent state of the market we do not feel war
ranted in giving quotations. "
Mouxssbs—There is a great scarcity of Molas
ses on our market with a good inquiry from
buyers. New York Refined is held at 75ca*l per
gallon: Golden Syrup, 90ca$l per gallon.
0iTS _The stock of Oats has been somewha*
diminished during the past week, but there is
quite a sufficient snpply for the demand. It is
quoted at 80a85c per bnshel, in sacks.
Oxioss—Onr market is now well supplied with
this article, which is in moderate request. We
have not fonnd it necessary to change our quota
tions of last week, which we renew as follows,

The lit: s demand that exists at present is for
the home trade, there being scarcely aoy enquiry
dam the interior. We give the following prices,
current at the close of out report: New York

CAEB.4c.rs—There appears to be a scarcity o f

therefore without quotations to offer. j
Feoce—l he fiour market in our City holds its

Scgabs—The Sugar market has been exceed
ingly dull during the past week, with a very
good stock on hand, and folly equal to all the
wants of buyers. Prices, however, have re
mained about the game as la3t reported, viz :
Porto Rico, 17al8c per lb; Clarified, 22c; Pow
dered Loaf, 23c; Crushed, 23c.
Salt—Our remarks of last week will apply
with equal force to the article this week. The
stock on hand is fair, and is daily increasing,
while the demand fer shipment keeps well up.
We quote $2 75 per sack as the price.
Soaps—A good supply o! all descriptions is
now on the market with only a moderate demand
for home use. We quote Hull’s No. 1 and Col
