Tiik hotels on Lookout Mountain are fast

a correspondent says, “eight battlo-flolds, the city

plainly visible."
Excursion parties from this city may visit the
above famous locality for tho small sum of |8,
die Western A Atlantic Railroad Company hav
ing kindly consented to issue tickets numbering
nut less than twenty tor that amount. A brief
visit—allowing one day and night upon the
mountain—may tic made from this city in three
days, nnd certainly the cares of business may be
thrown nsido (or that brief period. 'A letter writ
ten on the spot says “for the lover of the beau
tiful, the good, and Hie true, there is endless mat
ter for his adoration and speculative moods—as
we have abundantly verified in our preceding
letters, with all their imperfections. In a word,
there is no place like Lookout Mountain, no spot
where the summer time may be whiled away so
agreeably and profitably and healthily. Nobody
who has spent a day, or a week, or a month, upon
this "heaven-kissing hill,’’can deny that it de
serves to Ire the summer retreat of all health and
Joy-seeking people." The same letter goes on
to say that “the comers to Lookout Mountain suf
fer no lack of resources for metropolitan amuse
ments or sight-seeking. We have not seen one
guest upon whose hands a moment of time seem
ed to hang heavily. For tire billiard-player there
are the best of cushions, balls, and cues, nnd the
same indispensablcs for pool-players; for tits
music-lovcr there is bewitching music; for the
figurante thero nre lovely partners, a good or
chestra, nnd a spacious hall. The “danclata” of

each successive night, and until tho arnii and

of our unforgctlinir heart! ’’
The same writer gives a description of sunrise
on the mountain, as follows:
“Advancing to the brink of a projecting emi
