EmTons.—Of all the cool, impudent and ini-
pertinent people that wc are unfortunate enough
to know anything about, we have arrived at lltc
painful conclusion—after spending many sleep
less nights cogitating and ruminating upon lltc
subject—that editors are the most nboniinnbly
and outrageously impudent class of individuals
now extant The fact is, they are treated so of
ten to champagne, cigars, ice cream, Uobinson
County. Bourbon, spring suits, hats, gloves, Ac.,
until their brains become addled—if they ever
hail any—and they just imagine they can say
ami do anything with impunity. But we’ll show
them a tale tvortli two of that—lltc good-for-no
thing, handsome, fascinating fellows; it’s imims-
siblc to get mad with thorn, no matter how hard
we try. But old Patti Pry never was half ns
meddlesome as they arc. Pray, what is it they
don't stick their noses into, and what is It that’s
too sacred for them not to drag before the pub
lic? It is quite enough to make any modest wo
man Wash herself to death to pick np our papers
and read wlmt is paraded before our eyes. It is a
lamentable fact that our press is rapidly drifting
in close imitation of the deplorable style of the
York Ledger," etcetera. They publish
anything for a sensation, and ns the fair sex
is often handled with gloves off, I think it their
province to cry " hold—enough." If they gel
much worse, we will lrnvo to abandon our chief
delight of brenkfasting upon the morning papers,
and take to Hint vulgar practice of eating—how
ever much against our will. A few days ago we
read in one ol our morning papers, n learned ar
ticle headed " Tilten''—and for fear the dear
creatures would overlook it, the editor give us a
rile editorial upon the same subject, ail of which
the darlings will take to heart, and immediately
put into execution—simply to please him. Next,
vre were regaled witlt our utter abomination, a
parody, upon Hint excellent poem “the Haven,”
headed "Seandalout,” (“sacrillglons" woultl have
been better,) which It was in the highest degree ;
and although much ugninst our will wc are
obliged to acknowledge it wns a tolerably good
thing. But instead of turning tho author over
to die tender mercies of the fair sex, we would
liketo put hint on bread and water in a dungeon for
the short space of at least twelve months, nt the
expiration of which time we think he woultl
be only too happy lo catchA glimpse ot a “tiller,”
or anything else. Outrageous creatures, to sup-
poee for an instant Hint wlmt they say would
have any weight! Next wo find in the most
conspicuous purl of n charming daily, Fanny
Fern’s latest, with a lew mere suggestive remarks
by the impertinent editor. It’s all very true Hint
Finny knows tho men, and human nature, better
dun anybody else; and iter remarks were really
(unny, but die editor's were outrageous. Her
style is decidedly "ad eaptandum vulgut," bcnce
ber popularity witli editors, and men in general,
it the foregoing editor is married, lltc worst
luck we can wish hint is for the partner of all his
joys and woes to "cuatllc" him. If he is single,
wd desirous of embarking on-thc stormy sea of
matrimony, we beg him to citangc ills hnso, nnd
momo the very respectful attitude or ono wlto
bis offended, but begs forgiveness. It is u na
tional calamity that our editors are so brainless;
>bat instead ol edifying the public and elevating
'be standard of our press, they spend all their
dote harping upon lltc weather, the ladies, lash’-
ion, that love of a bonnet, that street tight between
two curs, that barbershop around the corner, that
umpire drinking saloon; but more especially do
they dwell u|ion “tillers" because, 1 presume, they
»re the latetl agony. Now, wc want to know
when they propose getting through witlt all litis
*ldcr dnsli, and when they intend to begin wrl-
dt>S tomethlng sensible, (which we very much
doubt their ability to do)— we wish to stop our
lupcr until Unit Imppy period. These men, too,

" I take pleasure in recommending tho Mexican Mae-
