Judge J. A. Hayden was elected on Tuesday
last, to fill tho vacancy in the Fulton county In
ferior Court, caused by tho resignation of J. T.
Porter. We learn Ihnt there was but one candi
date, and 60 votes only were cast.
The Buo Ball match JPostponod.
Tho match game of base ball, between the two
Clubs of this city, which was to liavo token
place to-day, lias been postponed on account of
the weather. This is done in order to give the
ladies an opportunity to witness the interesting
performance. We are requested to state that it
will certainly come off on Tuesday morning
next, at 11 o’clock, if the weather shall prove at
all suitable.
Notice to the Ladles.
The committee for the “Calico Party” are
leqnested to meet at St. Philip’s Church, on
Saturday next, at 11 o’clock a. m., to receive
dresses, and all other articles donated to the
poor. The public Brc most earnestly requested
to send in now or second-hand clothing of any
description, for distribution. It needs no lengthy

that a bridge on the Nashville A Chattanooga
Railroad had (alien down, causing a suspension
of freight transportation over that line of rail
way. We could not learn the extent of the
damage, or the probable time necessary to make
the proper repairs.
This intciligence at once produced Borne ex
citement in commercial circles, uud late last eve
ning the article of corn had a decided upward
tendency. Western produce generally will doubt-
less follow, all of which is wrong, but mankind
are apt to go that way, and it would prove a waste
of time to argue against it.
