Recovery.
We aro moro than gratllied to learn that Mor-
I ris L. Mayer, who was seriously wounded n short
: time ago, at Columbus, in this State, by tho nc-
[ cldcntal discharge of a pistol, is recovering. He
J arrived here on the 15lh, in charge of his father,
i David Mayer, Esq., who was in New York at
the lime of the occurrence. Tho wound, though
‘ » dangerous one, is rapidly healing, and the rc-
| covery of tho patient is no longer doubtful.—
This will prove gratifying intelligence to the nu
merous friends and acquaintances of the family
not only in Atlanta, hut in other portions of the
1 country.

Attention of parties interested is directed to
a notice from the Clerk of the Supremo Court of
Georgia, whicli will he lound in the advertising
department of the paper this morning.
The jaemphln and Obarlentou Road.
We find the subjoined reference to an esteemed
young friend, who has recently become identified
with tho Memphis and Charleston Railroad, in
the columns of the Curtersvillo Enterprise:
Charlie B. Wallace, son of our esteemed
friend, Campbell Wallace, Superintendent of the
Western and Atlantic Railroad, who has been
rendering the State such efficient service on said
road, lias resigned his position and gone to the
Memphis and Charleston Road. It will lie re
membered that that road offered a great induce
ment to secure the services of the father, and
failing in which they have determined to have
ilia protege in the person oi his son, who bids
ilfnlr to receive the mantle of his lather as a great
and successful railroad superintendent and inan-
1 tiger. The name Wallace is illustrious when
(connected with railronds and railroad enterprises,
:*md wery deservedly so, os is fully demonstrated
tin the management of the great Georgia State
ewterprise—the Western and Atlantic Road.—
■\yjAile,we regret his loss to our road, we congra
tulate Mte Memphis and Charleston Road on
their good .luck in securing his valuable services.
The Southern Express.
We mus* agaiu lie permitted to teuder our irc-
knowledgmi'nls to those estimable aud clever
gentlemen, the agents of the Southern Express,
Atlanta, for late papers. Promptness, accuracy,
aud attention, are .‘eaturesjn .the conduct ol that
institution, and such » thing as a failure in any
branch of its immense business is never hoard,
or even thought of.

Of the SupplementJry Scheme, and Mode of Drawing*
In this great scheme, which has bccomo so very popu
lar throughout tho United States, purchasers select their
own numbers, and whatever price they may think pro
per to pay for their tickets, and prizes nre paid aefiord-
ingly. Any person can go to any vender of tho Georgia
State Lottery, select their own numbers, and tho vendor
will give a tioket of tho same—tho vendor will enter tho
same numbers upon tho Manager’s register—and pur
chasers will be careful to see them entered upon tho reg-
ister, as tho managers are responsible lor that only,
ivory ticket has the class numbered on it, and tho draw
ings are in public, as follows: Ou tho drawlug of tho
lottery numbers from 1 to 78, printed on separate pieces
of paper, are encircled with brass tubes, aud one by one
placed iu a brass wheel. Tho wheel Is revolved aud tho
numbers well mixed. It is then opuued, and u boy, bliod-
folded. draws out one number, which is opened aud ex
hibited to the audience. This operation Is repeated until
the whole 12 numbers nre drawu out, and these 12 num
bers decide all tickets in that class. All numbers drawn
iu the Supplementary Scheme are equal—no difference in
what order they como from tho wheel.
