ho Plr-NIrof Kc. Philip'* Sunday School
Children.
This excursion was decidedly one of tho most
preabie of the seoaon, and will long beremcm-
red by the little ones for whoso bcnclit it was
itten up. A special train, gratuitously furnish
1 by those clever gentlemen of the Western &
tluntic Railroad, its a compliment to tho Silli
ly Scltool children ot St. Philip's, lett tho city
: 8.50 o’clock, for Marietta, wltero tho exeiir-
onists were to be received as tho guests ot the
lildren ol St. James’ Church. The children
umbered about ono hundred nud fitly, and with
teir teachers and friends, inndo up n highly
[rceablc assemblage of near three hundred per
ms. An hour was consumed in reaching tho
ttle miniature city abovo named, where were
nind assembled as a committee of reception the
hole Sunday School of the Rev. Mr. Benedict’s
lurch, its teachers, and mnny citizens. A pro-
jssiou, beaded by appropriate banners, was at
Bee formed, and marched to tho church, where
hearty welcome was extended to the visitors
f Judge Samuel Law hence, and responded
i by Rev. Ciiab. W. Thomas, Rector of Si.
Itilip’s, on the part of the interesting assem-
lago of little ones under his charge lor the day.
'lie exercises at the church were purposely made
fief, in order that the oul-door enjoyment of
ie children might receive no hindrance. They
l erc confined, therefore, to prayer, a few itn-
lems and songs by tho choir and children, and
lew remarks from the Rector, Rev. Air. Bene-
ict, who stated that the occasion was pccu-
arly interesting lrom the fact of its being the
veuty-flfth anniversary of the establishment of
t. James’ Church, and the organization of its
unday School. Ho dwelt .briefly upon the
rly history ot the church, its founders, and
iok occasion to ielnto many interesting remi-
isccnccs. Wc regret not to ho able to make ex-
mded mention of the latter, nnd to give the
ulunhle statistical Information embraced in the
ieasant narrative with which Mr. Benedict en-
•rtained his audience. The little church lias
lade a proud history during Its existence of a
carter ol u oentury, and wo trust there may
et gather within its sacred walls lor a period
wice as lengthy, earnest searchers after the
ruth as taught from its chancel. When the ro-
erend gentleman’s remarks had been concluded,
he precession was re-formed and conduct-
d to the enchanting grove surrounding tho
esidcnce of the Rev. Mr. Hunt, where the cltil-
Iren were BCt at liberty to romp on the green
ward, and to amuse themselves us might please
lhelr fancy. How joyous was the scene then
and there presented, we have not the ability to
describe. The bright, happy faces from this
city, long pent up in our less lavored locality,
never gleamed tttoro brightly as they held high
carnival with nature, in all Us frrsliness and
beauty, and drank in the mountain air. A table
tad been creeled in the grove, whereon was
pre&d a beautiful collation by the ladies. At
two o’clock the chlldien were rapged around it
in excellent order, nud weic servetl by their
teachers and friends, the utmost decorum
prevailing all the while. This attractive
feature concluded, the sports were
Burned until the hour for departure ar
rived, when Mr. Benedict delivered a most
appropriate aud beautifbl parting address. To
this the Rev. Mr. Thomas responded for the
children ol his church in a very taslelul manner,
extending a cordial invitation to the Sunday
School of St. James Church to visit Atlanta next
year, and assist St. Philip's Church at a May
festival. The happy aascmbluge then entered
the cars, and amid loud huzzas were borne sway
towards their homes, where they arrived In
safety, without a single occurrence to mar the
pleasures of a visit that wilt linger in memory
for many long year*.

EXPLANATION
Of tho Supplementary Scheme, and Mode of Drawings
lu this great scheme, which has become so very popu
lar throughout tho United States, purchasers select their
own numbers, und whatever price they may think pro
per to pay for their tickets, and prizes are paid accord
ingly. Any person can go to any vender ol the Ueom&
Suite Lottery, select their own numbers, auil the veuiTor
will given ticket of the same—the vendor wji enter the
same numbers upon the Manager's register—und pur
chasers will be careful to tee them entered upon the reg
ister, as the managers are responsible lor that ouly.
Every ticket has the class numbered on it, and the draw
ings are in public, as follows: On the drawing of the
lottery numbers lrom 1 to 78. printed on separate pieces
of jMincr, are encircled with brass tabes, and oue by one
placed in a brass wheel. The wheel is revolved ami the
numbers well mixed. It is then opened, and a boy, blind
folded, draws out oue number, which Is opened and ex
hibited to the audience. This operation Is repeated uutil
tho whole 12 numbers are drawn out, and these 12 num
bers decide all tickets in that class. All numbers drawn
In the Supplementary Scheme are equal—no dilTercuce in
what order they come from the wheel.
SirPPLEMBNTAHY SCHEHE.
Buyers choose their own numbers. The drawings are
in public, aud the prizes are paid immediately upon the
drawing, without any dednetion. Tickets tor sale at
Manager’s office, Broad street. Also, at offico. comer ol
Whitehall and Decatur streets. The first drawing of the
Supplementary class takes place on Wednesday, the 3d
April, 1867, at 5 o’clock, P. M., and coutinue from day to
day.
