Thk weather yesterday had returned to a
summer temperature, but certaiuly on Sunday
there was a decidedly autumnal chill in the
winds. It was rather agreeable, but very un
seasonable.
The rechstbation books for the first muni

day morning. About 130 persons enrolled their
names during the day, a little over halt of whom
were white.
The County Court entered yesterday upon
the second week of the present semi annual

mad Dog Killed.
An infuriated dog, suffering from that canine
madness known as hydrophobia, was found run
ning at large in the vicinity of the Medical Col
lege on Sunday. Considerable consternation was
produced by his wild carecrings, but we believe
uo greater damage was done. The information
was communicated to Lieut. Tim. Murphy, of
’.the Police, who is ever on the alert to do the
public a good service, when the monster was des
patched by a tew well directed shots Iront his

when the dog was killed, and it is a fortunate
circumstance that his career was so soon ar
rested.
Wall Tumbled In.
The double brick wall between the stores of
the Messrs. Wells and Abbott & Bro., on White
hall street, tumbled in yesterday morning. The
greater damage was sustained by the Messrs.
Wells, whiclt consisted chiefly in that done to
the building. The disaster had its origin in tho
sinking of tho wall, caused no doubt by imper
fect materials being used in its construction.
Pint Arrival of New Wheat.
The first car-load of new wheat reached this
city yesterday, and was sold at the depot for
$2 30 per bushel to W. G. Peters & Co., propri

rained by John II. King, near Dalton, and con
signed to Messrs. Oliver & Woddail, who dia-
