If an ambiguity exists in a will made during
die war—by the use of the word “dollars " and
testimony has been admitted to show that at the
lime ol mukiug the will, the currency where les-
tator lived consisted of Confederate Treasury
notes—the value of such curreucy, as compared
w ith gold at the time ol making the will, should
have been allowed to be proven so ns to enable
the jury to collect the intention of testator and
tbeu render their verdict in accordance with it

It cannot be brought nnd prosecuted in the
name of the informer, unless authority thus to
sue shall have been given distinctly by statute.
No legal right having vested in the informer
by the institution ohtlia suit in this case in bis
own came, the act of tue Legislature, remitting
the penalties incurred by manufacturing compa
nies for failiug to publish names of their stock
holders, relied on by defendant, is not, therefore,
violative of that clause of our State Constitution
which prohibits the enactment of any law inju
riously affecting any right ot a citizen. Judg
ment affirmed.

in accordance with an net of Congress, sup
plementary to uu act to provide a more efficient
government for tlio rebel States, &e dated
March 2d, 18(17, the following arrangements are
herein made for the registration of voters iu tbe
States ot Georgia and Alabama:
I. 1 lie States ot Georgia and Alabama are di
vided into registration districts, numbered am!
bounded, as hereinafter described.
II. A Board of Registration is herein nppoint-
c(l lor each district, as above mentioned, to con
sist of two white Registers, and one colorct
Register. In tbe State of Georgia, where only
the two while Registers are designated in this
order, it is directed Unit those while Registers
in each district immediately select, and cause
[° Ju y qualified, a competent colored man
to complete the Board ol Registration, and re
port bis name and postofflee address, without de-
lay, to Colonel C. 0. Sibley, commanding district
of Georgia, at Macon, Georgia.
I I l. Elicit Register will be required to take
ami subscribe the oath prescribed by Congress
by an act dated July 2, 1802, aud an additional
oul i to discharge faithfully the duty of Register
under the late acts ol Congress. It is not be
lieved that any of the appointees, hereinafter
designated, will be unable to take the test oath
above mentioned. Blank forms of these oaths
will be sent to the appointees at once, and on be
ing executed and returned to tbe Superintend-
ents of State registration, their commissions as
Registers will be issued, and forwarded to them
immediately.
TV. In order to secure a full registration of vo
ters, it is determined to fix the compensation of
Registers according to the general rule adopted
iu taking the census. In the cities, the coni pen-
lion is fixed at liltecn cents for each recorded
voter; in the most sparsely settled counties and
districts, at forty cents per voter. The compen
sation will be graduated between these limits,
according to the density of the population, and
llie facilities ol communication. Ten cents per
mile will lie allowed for transportation ol Regis
ters oil' tho lines of railroads or steamboats, and
live cents per mile, when travel is done on rail
roads and steamboats.
V. It is hereby made the duty of all Registers,
and I hey w ilt be expected to perform it strictly,
to explain to all persons, who have not hcreto-
Inre enjoyed the right of suffrage, what are their
political rights aud privileges, and the necessity
ol exercising them upon ail proper occasions.
\ I. 1 lie name ot cacti voter shall appear in
the list ol voters, lor the precinct or ward iu
winch he resides; and in eases where voters
have been unable to register, whilst the Boards
ol Registration were in tlio wards or precincts
where such voters live, opportunity will be given
to register at the county seats ot their respective
counties, nt a specified time, ol which due notice
will lie given ; but the names of alt voters, tints
registered, will be placed on the lists of voters of
their respective precincts.
VII. The Boards of Registration will give due
notice, so that it may reacli all persons entitled
to register, oi the date when they will ho in each
election precinct; the time they will spend in it;
and the place where tlio registration will be
made: and upon tlie completion of the registra
tion tor eaclt county, tlie Board of Registration
will give notice llmt they will lie present, tor
three successive days at tlie county seat ot such
county, to register such voters, as have tailed to
register, or been prevented Irom registering in
their respective precincts, and to hear evidence
in tlie cases ot voters, rejected by the Registers
in tlie several precincts, who nmy desire to pre
sent testimony in their own behalf.

IX. The lists of registered voters, lor each ot

lion is held, in order that all supposed cases of
fraudulent registration may be thoroughly inves
tigated. Due notice will bo given and provision
made lor the time and place lor tlie examination
and settlement of such cases.
X. Blank books of oaths, required to be taken i
1-y voters, and blank registration lists, as also 5
i ill and detailed instructions for tlie performance [
i f their duties, will lie at once forwarded to tlie
Boards of Registration, appointed in this order,

XI. The detailed instructions to Registers will

XII. Violence or threats of violence, or any
liter oppressive means to prevent any person

tary authorities of tiffs district; and nil persons
whomsoever are warned against any attempt to
interfere to prevent any man from exercising this
right, under any pretext whatever, other than
objection by the usual legal mode.

Hoard of Registration will call upon tlie local
civil authorities for it police force, or a posse ft.

will lie reported to the headquarters of the officer

delinquents, ami send charges against them to

Let tlio Machine down Into a common wash tab, by
cutting notches into the sides, for the Journals to rest in,
until it comes within one inch of tin* hot tom ortho tub;
fill with|liot water uutil the water covers tlie pubblcs iu
tlio machine two inches; wet the clothes iu warm water,
(it is better to soak clothes over night,) then rub a little
soft soap on all tho dirty places; then put the clothes
Into tlio machine with tho pebbles, and always till the ma
chine half lull of clothes, shaking them out as they are
put iu; then close up the door and turn the crank from
three to five minutes, keeping a hIow, steady motion un
til the dirt Is oul; then run through a wringer; then !*oll
as usual; theu put tbe clothes lwck into the machine
with the tub full of cold water; give the machine eight or
ten turns and your clothes are ready for the Lining water,
und then liaug out to dry. Never turn the machine when
empty of clothes, as it breaks the stones. If any of the
pebbfes become broken, pick them out.
