Trinity Cliurcli
It gives us pleasure to state that a protracted
meeting is now going on in the above church,
and that the Pastor, Hev. Wm. SI. Crumley, is
being assisted in the good work by the Hev. John
P. Duncan, whose zeal in the cause of his Slaster
knows no abatement. The latter gentleman
preached on Sunday night, last night, and will
probably occupy the pulpit again lo-night. We
record with unusual pleasure the interest which
is now being manifested in the congregation of
Trinity Church, nnd hope that it may daily iu
crease.
Florida—Both a Honduras nnd a Urn/.II
hero at Home.
We publish for the benefit of parties dosirous
of seeking new homes, tho following account of
u hitherto almost unknown section of country.
We copy from the Mobile Register:
We lmd tho pleasure of meeting yesterday
T C. Campbell, lonnerly of this city, now
Mr. J.
ot Manatee county in the Southern part of Flo
rida, and of h&viug a long talk with him about
that splendid country. We know of no better
remedy for the Honduras or Brazil (ever titan
Mr. Campbell's glowing description of th<T Flow
cry Land in which lie has made his home for
the last twelve months or so. We should like
to give that description here, for the bonefit of
such of the people of South Alabama as are
sick-a-bed witli the Brazil fever, but just now we
ItaVC neither tho timo nor the space to do tlio
subject justice.
Mr. Campbell has established himself on the
Manatee river, opposite the village ot the snme
name, where he lias, at his very door, tire finest
of fish, oysters nnd crabs, while the lorests around
him abound in almost all kinds of wild game,
such as deer, bears, turkeys, Ac. Ho assures us
that the country is rapidly filling up, about one
thousand families, principally from Alabama and
Georgia, having settled in the counties of Mana
tee and Hillsboro within the last twelve months.
The hammock lands in Hint part of tho State
produce com, cotton, sugnr-caue, tobacco, rice,
potatoes, and all garden vegetables aro grown in
the greatest abundance. There is plenty of ex
cellent timber, such as cedar, pine, cypress, juni-
pir, white oak, live oak, mulberry, &c.; while
nearly or quite all the tropical fruits, pine-upples,
oranges, lemons, bananas, limes, etc., grow in
great perfection, and some of them all the year
round. Mr. Campbell says lie had tho finest of
watermelons in February, lias raised the largest
cabbages he ever saw, ami has eaten “ butter-
beans" from vines that had been bearing for
four years.
The village of Manatee is about forty miles
South of Tampa, und is nut more than oue bun
dled and twenty-five miles from the island of
Cuba, wltcro the people find on excellent nmrkt
lor their fish, lumber, Ac.
There is at. least one advantage in going to the
ptuinsula of Florida instead of to Brazil—it
costs you very little to gel there, and then, if you
are not pleased witli tho country, you will find
no difficulty in returning to your old home.—
There is a steamer, aud also a schooner oi about
ono hundred and filly tons burden, that make
regular trips botweau that part of Florida and
New Orleans. Passengers are carried in the
seitooner for fifteen dollars.
Mr. Campbell says the people of his new para
dise have no politics of their own, and are not
inclined to purchase a supply from anybody else.
They are entirely out ot tho world of Radical
ism, and reconstruction is a thing they hnvo no
use for and they know nothing about.
Memphis Auction Store
The peculiar method resorted to by P. L
Bierce & Co. of selling goods—not exactly at
auction, but much resembling that style—has
become somewhat popular, and the throng that
is daily seen in the establishment is sufficient
evidence that goods are sold cheap. Everything
in the line of notions, as well as dry goods, ready
made clothing, hats, caps, shoes, &c., are offered
at marvelously low figures in great or small
quantities, the merits of each article being ex
patiated upon so glibly by the several gentlemen
who represent the establishment that not to pur
chase is out of the question. P. L. Bierce & Co.
are located ou the corner of Whitehall & Ala
batna streets, and a visit to thorn Will “pay out
Bee the advertisement.
For the Ladies
See the notice of L. B. Davis, Esq., Life In
so ranee Agent, headed as above. That gentle
man is prepared to issue policies in the " Old
Phoenix,” one of tho most rcspousible compauies
in tho United States.
The Black Phenomenon
We have not the remotest idea wlmt tho
“black phenomenon” is, hut it is announced
appear ut the Opera Hall for threo nights only
commencing to-night. See the notice.
Allen A Ladd, the proprietors of “ fortune'
headquarters,'' paid out to the holders of tickets
yesterday tho sum of $898. There is evidently
some luck in their tickets, and if parties desire
to try the “tickle jade,” the Whitehall Street
Agency of tho above gentlemen is tho place
get tickets at.
FartUau Lite with Mushy.
This book is out, and tho publishers are in

notice elsewhere.
Mr. Glenn, at the Georgia R. R. Depot, will
rent a cottage containing four rooms, ou Wheat
street, opposite Col. McCamy’s residence.
■ Jahhett A Bho. will pay the highest mar
ket price hr n few thousand bushels of superior
