Meters. Little <f- Marshall:
Gentlemen—1 used, during the past season, one of
' IngeraoU'a Portable Cotton Presses," purchased of you
last Meptemhor. I have always been predmdlcod In favor
of the "Screw Press." aud nothiug liut dire necessity in
duced nio to try any other. 1 take pleasure, however, lu
adding my testimony In favor of its outlie adaptation to
the wants' of a cotton plantation. It Inis surpassed my
most sanguine CKpection*. I have packed with hut two
hands, yet 1 prefer four- two at each lever. Mv hales all
weighed overbdd pound*. The first lot Is-
sent to market
averaged 5Afi pounds. M v impression Is, that 5i«l pound*
Is about thu capacity of the Press, and a greater number
of [hi 11 nits subject the follow-block to too much risk, un
less thu sides of the rottnn box was Incmised. It wonld
add greatly to the value of the Press It the cotton box
was tun lu'ches longer. In baste, I am, very respectfully,
your obedient servant, fcc.,
' B. W. LAWTON.
P. H.—I took my Press down and carried It some foul
mllua tu pack thu crop of a neighbor, who tailed to have
a “screw" luilll. He was so much pleased that helms
determined to abandon the • Screw" and purchase “In-

Gentlemen: 1 have |ust received your letter of Feb

"Descriptive Circular of Ingcrsall * Cotton Pres*."
Tin- pres* I used in packing my cotton last year worked
admirably, parking, with ease. Mai to r-itt pounds. With
goi-d active band* to work It. I ain satisfied that from
eighteen to I wuiity hales might readily be packed In a
day.
This Ties*combine* tie-advantage*of lightness, and
miuM-rmcut pnrlaldlliy and simplicity, being easily man
aged by any one of ordinary intelligence. Great com
pressing for- --, with In lie motive power, aud “la-d, hut

the farm horse* the hard labor Imposed 11(100 them by
the ordinary "Screw." Respectftilly, Me., your*.
