II That an dccliou Iw held In the State of
Ccorgia, commencing on Tuesday the 29th ilay
ol October, IStIT, aud continuing three days, at
which the registered voters of said Slate may
vole "lor a covontion," or “against a conven
tion" ami lor delegatee to constitute the con-

on that miration shall bo for a convention, and
m case a majority of all registered voters shall
have voted on ilte question ol holding such
convention.

cations required by said act, who have not been

V. The said election shall be held in each
county at the county seat, under the superinten
dence'oi the Boards ol Itcgistratlon as provided
bylaw, and in accordance with Instructions to
l,c hereafter issued lo said Boards.
VI. All Judges and Clerks employed in con
ducting said election, shall, before commencing
to hold the same, be sworn to the taithtul per
tormanee ol their duties, and shall also take and
subscribe to the oath ot office prescribed by law
tor officers ot the United Slates.
Vll The polls shall be opened at each voting
place during the days *i>ccifled, at seven o clock
in the toreuoon, anil closed al six o clock in the
afternoon, and shall be kept open between those
hours w ithout intermission or adlournment.
YIU. The Commanding officer ot the Dis
trict of Georgia, will issue, through the Superin
tendent ol Kegialration lor that Stole, such de
tailed instructions as may be neceeaary to the
conduct of said election in conformity with the
acts ot Congress, and as lar as may be with the
laws ol Georgia.
IX. The returns required by law to be made
ot the result* ot said election to the Command
ing General of this Military District, will be
rendered bv the persons appointed to superin
tend the same, through the Commanding officer
of the District of Georgia, and in accordance
with the detailed instructions already referred to.
X. >'o Registrar, who is a candidate lor elec
tion as a delegate to the Convention, shall serve
ns a Judge of the election in any county which
he seeks to represent.
XI. All public bar rooms, saloons, and other
places lor the sale of liquors at retail at the seve
ral county seats, shall be closed from six o’clock
on the evening of the twenty-eighth day of Oc
tober, until six o'clock on the morning of the
tirst dav ol November, 1867. And the Sheriff
ot the county shall be held responsible tor the
strict enforcement ot this prohibition, by the ar-
i ,'st of all parties who may transgress tho same.
XII The Sherifi of each county is further re
quired to l>o present at the place of voting dur
ing the whole time that the polls are kept open,
and until the election is completed, and is made
responsible that no interference with the judges
of election or oilier interruption of good order
shall occur. Aud any Sherifi or other civil of
ficer failing to perform with energy and good
taith the dutv required of him by this order,
will, upon report made by the judges of election,
be arrested and dealt with by Military Authority.
XIII. The following extracts from General
Orders No. 20, front these headquarters, are re
published herewith, for the information and gui
dance of all concerned:
“ xil. Violence, or threats ol violence, or any
other oppressive means to prevent any person
li-ont registering his name or exercising bis poli
tical rights, are positively prohibited; and it is
distinctly announced that no contract or agree
ment with laborers, which deprives them of
their wages for any longer time than that actu
ally consumed in registering or voting, will be
permitted to be enforced against them in this
District; and this oftense, and any previously
mentioned in this paragraph, will cause the im-
mediate arrest ot the offender and hts trial be-
fore a Military Commission."
"XIII. Tho exercise of the right of every
duly authorized voter, under the late acts of
< longress, to register and vote, is guaranteed bv
the Military Authorities of this District; and all
persons whosoever are warned against any at
tempt to interfere to prevent any man from ex
ercising this right under any pretext whatever,
other than objection by the usual legal mode.”
XIV. The Stale Senatorial Districts ot Geor
gia, us established by State laws, being found
convenient divisions of the State for the purpo
ses of representation in a State Convention, are
hereby adopted, and the following apportion
incut ol delegates among said Districts is made
in accordance with the provisions ol the second
section of the supplementary act dated Marelt
23d 1867.
To Hie 1st District—counties ol Chatham,
Bryan and Effingham, eight delegates.
To the 2d District—counties of Liberty, Tat
nail and McIntosh, two delegates.
To the :id District—countlcsof Wayne, Pierce
and Appling, one delegate.
To the 4th District—counties of Glynn, Cam
den and Charlton, one delegate.
To the 15th District—counties ot Coffee, Ware
and Clinch, one delegate.

Lowndes and Berrien, two delegates.
To the 7th District—counties of Brooks,
Thomas nnd Colquitt, three delegates.

the wants of a cotton plantation. It has surpassed my
most sanguine expcctiou*. 1 have packed with blit two
bauds, yet I prefer four two at each lever. My bale* all
weighed over fiOO pounds. The first lot I sent to market
