Realizing what had occurred, lie ran homeward as soon as possible, tad both the horse and boy being met by Clint and John Wtnreys, who lived not far front the scene, the boy related to them what had oc curred. Subsequent to this, Pierce obtained permission to visit home, accompanied by guards, Irom whom lie managed to escape, and ia now at large. A T a meeting of the Board of Managers of the Georgia State Lottery for the benefit of the “Masonic Or phans Home," July lfith, 1807, the following resolutions were passed: Retolvtdy That the Managers advertise for proposals for the purchase or donation of TWENTY AGUES OF LAND In the vicinity of Atlanta, for the purpose of erect ing thereon a MASONIC ORPHANS’ HOME—said pro posals to be submitted to the Board of Managers by the fourth day of September next. Thu title will be vested in the Grand Lodge of the State of Georgia, or such other Masonic Lodge iu the State as will accept the same, should the Grand Lodge decline the trust. Resolved, further, That the Board will pav $fi00 for the Draft of a Granite Building for tho “Masonic Orphans'Horae,” to be submitted to the Board by the nr.'*t day of November uext: the said plan to be sodfrawn as that the building can be commeucetl with an expendi ture of fifty thousand dollars, during the first year, aud that the same may he extended from year to year, with out destroying the symmetry of the architecture.
