All coiomnnlcations or letters on business intended for this office should be addressed to "Thb Atlanta Intel- LiacNCKH.” JARED IRWIN WHITAKER, Proprietor. THE ATLANTA DAILY AND WEEKLY INTELLIGENCER. The Proprietor of these two publications embraces the present opportunity of addressing ii few words to those of his friends who have been constant in the countenance and support they have given to the one or the other of them, and to those throughout the State who, now that Atlanta baa beeome “The Capital,” will look to it as the ceuter from whence political intelli gence, in all matters concerning Georgia, will henceforth radiate. To the former he returns his thanks lor the generous patronage they have hitherto extended to both the “Daily and Weekly Intelligencer;” while to the latter, lie oilers both as mediums through the columns of which the latest news ot the day appears, rite rights of the States under the Constitution, and the rights of the white race, the possessors of the soil, and the proper guardians of their in terests and their honor, advocated. Coeval almost with the existence of Atlanta as an incorporated city, the “Weekly Intelli gencer” was established. This publication has now completed its XX volume, and has the largest circulation ot any similar publication in Northern Georgia. The rapid growth of At lanta, its commercial and other enterprizes, soon demanded a daily journal, when the “Daily In telligencer” was established which has now nearly completed its XIV volume, and which has beeome (as well as the “Weekly”) an es tablished institution ot this rapidly growing city, asserting now a larger circulation in upper Geor gia tbau any paper in the State. With its days of prosperity, the “Intelli gencer” has had its days cf adversity. De stroyed by Fire, it soon rose from its ashes ; driven lrora Atlanta by the advance ot Sher- mnu’s hosts upon it, it still at a distant point coutended lor the ‘ Lost Cause” at a pecuniary sacrifice on the part ot its Proprietor which swallowed up all of its previous emoluments; then came its return to,and re-establishment in At lanta at a heavy outlay; and then came “Order 49” of Gen. Pope which cut ofl lor many months all its most important resources; but still it lives, having maintained its honor, sacrificing no prin ciple amid all the temptations by which it has been surrounded. To-daj 7 , it is, what it has ever been, a Democratic Journal, true to Georgia, faithful to her every interest, and to that of the white race within her broad limits. Come what may, the Intelligencer will never die. As rolling years may move, and Nature demands change as her order, still will the Intelligen cer be oue ot Atlanta’s institutions; and still it is hoped it will continue to be the advocate ot good government, earnest in maintaining the right against the wrong. As the Legislature will in a day or two convene in ibis city, the Proprietor takes the occasion ot ofleriug the Daily or Weekly Intelligencer to the public as a medium through which they will receive talthful aud ex tended reports of its proceedings. A competent .Reporter has been engaged to perform that service. This additional feature of the paper iuvolviug as it will additional expense, justifies an appeal to that portion ot the public whose political sentiments are in accordance with the Intelligencer; and to advertisers who desire to reach the largest number ot readers ; to favor it with their patronage. Send up your subscrip tions, and send in your advertisements. Never was there a more auspicious time tor Atlanta business men to advertise than the preseut; and never was there a crisis upon the State or coun- iry so momentous as that which is upon it now. The action oi the Legislature of the State so soon to be in session ; the action of the National Democratic Convention so soon to assemble in New York ; the Presideuli&l canvass to tollow ; all combined, makes the newspaper absolutely necessary to every intelligent man, and a good democratic paper from Atlanta, it seems, to every Georgian who can read. Bend then, lor the “Intelligencer !” It will do good service, in the good cause. To those who are indebted to the “ IntellF gencer”—and there are hundreds who are—the Proprietor would say a word. The publica tion of a newspaper demands cash. Nothing consumed in it cau be obtained on credit. The labor employed in every department must be promptly paid for. lie appeals, then, to those who are upon the books, U> settle up their dues. Every little helps. FABMEBS, GABDENEI18, AND FRUIT-GBOWEB8. FLOUR. OF R.A.W BONES! HADE BY TUB OAKLEY MILLS MANUFACTURIN0 COMPANY, MARIETTA, GEORGIA. FLOUR OF RAW BONE is the cheapest, most reliable, and most powerful fertiliser in the market. The very beat Suuer-PhosDliates are indebted almost entirely to the bone they contain for iheir virtues, but are more than halt made up of other materials, many of them utterly worthless, while it is a generally admitted fact that most of the Guanos in the market are very largely adulterated. T'l.a imnori'pct condition in which bone has been necessarily need heretofore, by reason of the impossibility of reducimr it m fine nowder, has been a serions drawback to its use and value. Now, however, this difficulty is ef fectually overcome, by a recent application of machinery which reuuces raw bone to the condition of flour. The value of Raw Done is thus increased fully one hundred per cent., making it as rapid in its action as dis solved bone and much more durable. Raw Done is one-third organic animal matter, yielding upon decomposi tion forir and one-half per cent, ammonia. The rapid decomposition set up by reason of the minute division of mirtidea disene-acee its earthly phosphat. s, rendering it immediately effective. P YVewarrant our Flour oi Raw Done to be perfectly pure, ana will give absolute guarantees to that effect. Th.s article hastens the ripening ol all crops; it gives strength to the stalk and weight to the grain; it promotes the 1-rnwth alld health of treesrand improves the flavor of fruit; it does not exhaust, but permanently improves and Btrenethcns the soil In dry seasons it is well known that the use of Peruvian Guauo is minous to crops, while the Fiour of Raw Bone can be used with the same advantage in dry seasons as in wet. per centf 1 Pho^hat^of 6 Lirnef and 88 per centf animal matter, yielding 4.54 per cent.
