THE BUNSTREL.
TOR THE MACON TELEdrAPH.
PRAYER OF THE OUQUAFENOKIAN.
Lord of Love, look from above,
And help up, wretched creature*;
Give us wealth and give up health,
And twinge the (team'd musquitoe*.
FOR THE MACON TELEGRAPH.
To ELOUISE.
Lady, I read thv pensive strain—
"The tale ot blighted hope and Joy.
Alas, how oft the bosom’* pain
Will woman's generous pride destroy!
The cup of bliss in vain we fill,
And quatf it many a future bout:
'Twill oft the burning tear distil.
And pleasure vanish 'ueath its power.
I’ve seen the fairest floweret fade;
F.re it had bloomed, I've seen it die;
And happiness, o fleeting shade,
While in my gra*p, I've seen it fly;
Again, has its reviving glow
My bpsoin stung with passion's dart,
Then pass awe.- no empty show,
To crush a wildly beating heart.
But thine I hoped a happier lot,
Superior to its bland control;
Nor dreamed that any dared to blot
The glowing radiance of thy soul:
'Tis but the breath of envy’s sting;
At which thy heart should ne’er repine;—
N’o anguish there its touch should wring—
Like fold when tried, 'twill brighter shine.
OSCAR.
FOR THE MACON TELEGRAPH.
>p 0 A*** **#*.
Th’ ambitions pine that scorns the shade
Where humbler flowers bloom,
And lifts to beaven it? daring bead
To woo the amorous sun—
Encounters storms tlint others shun,
la tempests of the skies,
Attracts the bolt of Heaven down,
And from its fury dies.

Physiology.—The London Hunterian So
ciety is at present engaged in the performance
of a scries of experiments on the subject of
tho human blood, its properties, component
parts, operation in the entire system, and its
cooxistencc with the vital principle. The ex
periments arc intended to discover the truth
of cortfiin doctrines with regard to tho hu
man blood promulgated by Dr. Harry. At the
last meeting of tho society, .on tho 27th ulti
mo, the result of a very curious experiment
was detnded. Tho stomach of a subjuct just
expired was opened, and the pulsations of the
heart were distinctly perceived for about twen
ty minutes after. This fact alono demonstrates
that the cessation of vitality was not in conse
quence of the termination of the circulation in
the blood. Several similar curious experi
ments were detailed, and it is intended, when
the result of all shall be ascertained, to submit
it, in an authentic form to tho public.
Revolutionary Printing Press.—Tho P.rrss
ttow used in this office, formed a part of the
trivelFng equips? of the celebrated General
G .-eone, while commander of the southorn di
vision of tho American army during the latter
part of tho Revolutionary war. This informa
tion was derived from Mr. Miller, the former
proprietor and editor of this paper, by whose
father it was purchased somo thirty or forty
years a?o. Like most of our surviving revolu
tionary heroes, it bears tho marks of old age
and docrepitudo, but l'ke ihcni it seems to have
been mode of good stuff, and its final dissolu
tion is not to bo speedily apprehended.—Pcn-
dlrtm(St. C.) Messenger.
St. Helena*—The captain of a British ship,
which lately touched ut St. Helena, reports that
Bonaparte’s new house remained unoccupied,
and strangers wi:h permission, are allowed to
visit it durine their stay. The rotfm of his old
residence, wherein he died, had been convert
ed to a thrashing barn, and tho other part of tho
house into stables.—Baltimore Patribt.
